UNETHICAL policies. I've been with Hometown Disposal for quite some time and never had any complaints. I paid my bill on time, but when it came to cancelling my service because we purchased a home inside an HOA that required use of a specific (non-Hometown Disposal) company, we had to cancel our service with Hometown Disposal. Since we only used a portion of the quarter we paid for, we would expect a refund of unused services paid for. We were told that isn't "their policy" to issue refunds. That may be their policy...but that is horrible customer service. Since when does any consumer not have a right to a refund of unused services? I'm sure if someone doesn't pay their bill then you don't have a problem not providing the service. We saw where the Hometown Disposal owner commented on another review stating "We have no way of fixing any problem without know of it." This is something you know about, as others have told you this but you choose to cheat people out of money. I understand we are talking about 15-45 dollars, but across every customer that this happens to I'm sure you are doing quite well on that "policy". But, is it ethical? NO. You the owner of this company should be ashamed of yourself. So, while I have referred people and praised your company in the past...I will no longer do that and make a point of letting them all know to beware of the "policy" when cancelling. My 4-5 star rating you have tarnished big time. I will never return to your company. Business advise...change your "policy" for the right of your customers and it will pay you back tenfold. Otherwise, you lose that customer for life and others. Maybe we can all enter into a class-action lawsuit? One may not hold much weight but many do.

After years as a customer; I sold the property and cancelled my service. They refused to return my 2 months of prepaid services because it is "against policy"... SMH

Forget about being a garbage removal company, these guys couldn't serve there purpose as a garbage can. They occasionally just wouldn't pick our trash up on the day they gave us for pick up. Upon inquiry, they would apologize and tell us that the driver just, "must've missed us" and would either send him back after 4pm or a later date. On holiday weeks, they just don't pick up. Not the next day, try the next week.
Again, they didn't pick up and when confronted, the God-awful customer service woman proceded to put blame on us. She stated that they sent us mail and gave courtesy calls warning of thier service termination. We got no calls, and no mail- our mailbox is not even 30 feet away from the dumpster. One has remained full, the other completely devoid of any sort of "warning." As for the courtesy calls the receptionist called me a liar for never receiving, here's the breakdown, lady: we, alike most in this strange society, have our phones in our faces consistently. This isn't a home phone, or a business line. They made no calls, gave no warnings, and treated us like dirt when calling to genuinely find out why our trash isn't being taken.
I know they seem cheap. I know it may seem worth it. But what you aren't paying up front consequently comes out of the service and the stress

I have been a customer of Hometown Disposal since the business started and employee for close to 4 years. Hometown Disposal truly does it's best to take care of problems that may arise for our customers. The company has always billed one month in advance to give the customer plenty of time to pay their low and consistent rate, followed up by a courtesy call if the payment has not been received when the due date is approaching. Hometown Disposal truly does their best to take care of their customers at all times.

I would have given them negative stars but that was not an option. Stay as far away from this company as possible. In January due to financial hardship we could not pay our trash bill. So they cut off services. Then when we did pay our bill we had to pay the full amount. Out of the twelve weeks from 1/1/15 to 3/31/15 they only picked up the trash about 5 or six times. No credit whatsoever for the times that they did not pick up the trash. Then do not be one day late on your bill. Our new bill was due on the first and on the second they stopped services. Keep in mind that at this point they OWE us money for all the weeks since we have had their service when they did not provide those services. And here is the worst part about this company. They are slobs. There is not a week that goes by that they do not leave a mess behind. Why is it so difficult to empty that little barrel into that big truck? And don't try to complain about something. They will just hang the phone up on you. The absolute worst customer service we have ever seen. Here in a few minutes we will be filing a complaint of consumer fraud with the Missouri Attorney General's Office for consumer fraud. Along with this we are filing complaints with the City of Springfield and City Counsel to have their license to operate within the city limits revoked for unethical business practices and fraud. We encourage all people that have had problems with this company to do the same. If everyone does the same as we are doing our voices will be heard. There is power in numbers and we will not rest until all of those orange barrels are out of our city.
