Overall
Great salon- my Go-To

Wonderful salon in lexington/columbia area. I usually get a cut and highlights done here and have had great results each time. I also always pick up Aveda products here from their store upfront. They use all Aveda products in the salon, and I like that Aveda's color is botanical-based and much less harmful than at other salons- but the color is still rich and lasts. I've tried different highlights and processes (just highlights, highlights then toner, full foil, half foil, ooh and ask for the Botanical Treatment add on with your hair color! It's amazing- takes 10 minutes costs just 20 or 25 extra- but it's like a miniature keratin treatment and makes my hair incredibly soft). But everytime my color's been great. I went here before my wedding and the cut and color both were perfect- color was perfect under every light and in all the pictures indoor and out. For me, i usually give my haircut a week or two to even out (where i'll make sure to curl it under with a roller brush), and i've gotten the best haircuts here. The stylists are always incredibly nice and it's one of the nicest salons- in person and in their new location/renovated space. They moved from the Target shopping center to the shopping area near TopSpin and on the opposite side of Bellacino's. Really close in town. It's well worth the trip. And it's my favorite. I see lots of women get cuts and color here - and lots of men's haircuts from regulars. Also they do children's haircuts. (Sometimes it'll be like the mom and her daughter or a mom and her kid). I walk in sometimes but I call and make an appointment- and

The new nail technician, Candace Jackson, is an excellent addition to the salon. About a week ago I went in for a manny-petty and Candace had my hands and feet feeling fabulous. Not only is she gentle yet thorough, she has a bubbling personality that made feel like my best friend was doing my nails. I can't express in words how pleased I was with her service. And her designs are to die for! I don't know how she comes up with the ideas and then actually fits them on nails. I will definitely be returning and telling all of my friends about Candace and her excellent service. Great acquisition Huei Salon! You struck gold with this one.

Had my hair colored, cut, and ...

Had my hair colored, cut, and styled at Huei, and I do not exaggerate when I say i've never walked out of a salon happier. Going in, I had an idea of what I wanted and my stylist listened and gave me recommendations on a warmer color to compliment my skin tone. I was a little hesitant considering I've been getting the same color for the past few years, but after seeing the work of another stylist in the salon and the final product of the lady sitting next to me, I decided to trust my stylist and go with it. I'm ecstatic i did!!! My hair looks amazing- shiny and healthier than before! Apparently Aveda has its own all natural color line that doesn't dry out and over process hair like others do and I 100% can see and feel the difference. Not only are the stylists fabulous, she's extremely friendly and easy to talk to. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, high end but not intimidating like some high end salons I've been to. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else and recommend Aveda and Huei to anyone looking for a cut, color, style, you name it.

I just started going here about a few months ago and got my hair cut, highlighted, and styled. It was a really relaxing experience. I would recommend it to everyone. The highlights look amazing and they use all natural products so it doesn't itch my scalp like other salons. The wax is painless and clean. I now go regularly to get a wax, esp for the summer. As far as the prices go, you get more than what you pay for. It's not expensive and they don't overcharge you. It's a classy Aveda salon and the people are so sweet. Great place, highly recommended!

I went into Huei Aveda Salon i...

I went into Huei Aveda Salon in Lexington, SC on Wednesday June 13th, 2012. I paid $99 for all over blonding and a cut plus $20(the standard charge in most every salon is $10) for extra color because I have long hair. I told the stylist that I wanted to lighten my hair all over and get rid of the 2 inch new growth. I had several different colors in my hair to begin with becaue of high lights and low lights and my new growth as well. Kelly, the owner, and the male stylist ( I believe his name is Rick) informed me that my hair would not all be the same color because underneath was darker than the top section of hair but that my roots would match the strands of hair and I was ok with this. I made sure that they understood that from my past experiences with my hair that I definitely knew I wanted ash/cool tones and absolutely no warm tones (orange). Kelly explained to Rick that he needed to work from the bottom up to lighten the darker areas first then not leave the bleach on the top section long because it was already very blonde. He did the correct procedure as far as I saw, execpt he did not wait long enough after doing the bottom section before applying color to the top section, leaving my top section extremely lighter than I wanted. He applied the "color" directly to my scalp, he said that it was not bleach but a color that would lighten my hair. I am in cosmetology school and know for a fact that color cannot lift another color that there has to be some form of lightner to make the hair a lighter color. Lightner is not supposed to be applied to the scalp, in fact it should be applied 1/8 of an inch away from the scalp due to the fact that the scalp produces heat which expands the product closer to the scalp and also processes it faster leading to hot roots (in this case my roots being orange). While the color was processing my scalp began to burn but I had been told he was not using bleach and I gave him the benefit of the doubt, I also thought it would be ok since he was about to rinse it out. Kelly, the owner rinsed my hair, cut it ( which I am not satisfied with either as my layers were not done correctly) and partially dried my hair. Due to the fact that she did not fully dry my hair and the lighting in the salon it was not immediately obvious to me that I was not satisfied with the end result. When I got home Wednesday night it was extremely obvious that my roots were a brassy orange color all over my head, the top section of my hair had been over proccessed and was too light, and the cut was not done correctly. That afternoon my scalp began to itch very badly and was very red, I washed my hair to insure that all of the lightner was out of my hair and then deep conditoned my hair. Afterwards I applied a leave in conditioner that is also good for your skin and applied it to my scalp hoping it would stop the itching, however this did not fix anything. (Continued in next review)

Was over priced and horrible at waxing. I had my Eyebrows and lip done and it cost me $27! The first time she waxed, I looked in the mirror and it didnt look like she did anything! then I told her I wanted more arch on the brow so she said ok, I laid back down and she went to plucking, finally got done with that and I looked again and she hardly did anything again! it was terrible finally I just gave up and paid and left.. I still have hair left on my lip too! WTH!?! I went home and had to finish the job! DO NOT GET WAXED HERE!

Amazing Cut & Color---Highly Recommended!

I made an appointment for a master cut and full-foil highlights, and I looove love my hair. About 2 weeks afterward I got pictures developed from a trip I took, and--it's random (and probably vain) but I couldn't stop looking at how great my hair looked. It looked so polished and expensive. I didn't even style it at all--just shampoo/conditioned (I guess that's what a great hair cut is supposed to do--I just never realized it until I actually GOT one). My stylist was really amazing about adjusting even the smaller things (I wanted my hair not as thick and all dry ends to be taken off; my hair is layered) and I came out extremely happy with both cut and color. Besides all the amenities that you'd expect from a high end Aveda salon--like getting to use all aveda products, a great atmosphere (it smelled really good), complimentary cappuccino (or bottled water), I was really happy with everything I got done from here-- a great deal too bc you get shampoo, blow drying, and even a shoulder massage. I've come back to pick up products from their Aveda store up front (uuuhh i looove the Color Conserve shampoo/conditioners and the smell of the phomollien? styling foam) and I can't wait to try out their other services. I'd definitely check this place out. It is a gem, especially in Lexington/Columbia.

Also, it's definitely normal for salons to have a small range in their prices (especially high end salons). It may just be my experience but I came from NY and pretty much all the places I've been to charge according to your hair type. If you're going to call about a price you should tell them about your hair to get a more accurate assessment. My cut was $55, because I asked specifically for a master stylist, and it was worth every penny. I trust the place and would, if you're looking for a great hair cut, definitely recommend trying even their stylist/Sr.stylist cuts. Huei Aveda's prices are actually a pretty good deal--if you check out the price of other Aveda salons in the area (like Tillman's), Huei Aveda's is much cheaper--plus I trust this salon, which is pretty important to me, and I loved my results.

Quick and painless waxing..great salon!

I got the best eyebrow shaping from this salon! Every time I walk in it's always busy, but they always seem to fit me in. I've tried just about all the waxing here and it's really great. Normally waxing is somewhat of a dread, but after experiencing such painless waxing I actually kind of look forward to it! haha (I don't know if they use a special kind of wax or if they technicians are just that good) It may be a stretch to say its a relaxing experience, but it's as relaxing as waxing can be. Great place. Highly recommended!

After reading the review below, I also want to comment on the haircuts and color here! I've was a hairstylist for over 15 years, so I'm very picky on how I like my hair cut. This place was great! My color and cut took 10 years off my appearance! I was disappointed to see negative commenting regarding pricing. In my experience and the opinions of my non-stylist friends, it is acceptable to increase the price for people who have longer hair. While it may not take longer to actually cut longer hair and it takes extraordinarily more time and effort to style longer hair. On top of that, sometimes people ask to straighten hair or need extra texturizing once the styling is done..that is extra time and work for the stylist. I know this isn't just my opinion because some friends who aren't stylists understand that if they have long or thick hair that it's highly possible their haircut is going to cost more. I just wanted to clear that up for anyone who may be wondering.

Ask the price when you arrive!

I am extremely unhappy with my experience at the Huei Salon. I saw on the website they had Senior Stylist with 5-10 years of experince at a cost of $40. When I called to make an appointment, I checked again to make sure the cost was going to be $40. She said yes. When I met the stylist, it seemed she did not speak very much English and she had a very hard time understanding what I wanted. I was not that unhappy with the hair cut, though it is not what I was trying to ask for. When I went to pay they informed me that the hair cut was $55.00. I said I asked on the phone what the price would be and you said $40. She said because my hair is so long that they charge more for that! I had NO color, highlights, anything like that. Just a hair cut. Does it take more time to cut longer hair? It's the same number of cuts! What a joke. I was extremely upset and I will never go there again or recommend it to any of my friends and family.

Looved my haircut, love the products

I really liked this salon. I went for a hair cut because my ends were getting dry and my old hair-cut had grown out. I just told my stylist to keep the same style but to trim it the way she felt was needed to make it look healthy again. I loooved the result. It turned out better than my origial cut:). The place was what one would expect an Aveda salon to be, clean, stylish, like a boutique salon, and the people were very friendly and unpretentious. I've always liked Aveda products so the store up front was a big plus. I'm going to go back to get my highlights done from here; hopefully that'll turn out just as well. I'm sure it will--there was a girl who was getting Japanese Hairstraightening done while I was getting my hair cut, and by the time we were both done, her hair was... amazing. She'd gotten her cut, her highlights, and the straightening all done from here.. and she was just gorgeous. Definitely try this salon. If nothing else-- but to try the Aveda products:)!

Not the Best Aveda Spa

Ive been to several Aveda Spas and this one is NOT a spa. Its a beauty salon and a spa wanna be! There is only one massage/facial room and it is right off of the hair salon. All while I was getting massaged I heard hair dryers and women cackling!! NOT RELAXING!! My massage (by Tripp) was wonderful. It wasn't his fault. But the atmosphere is severely lacking.

Incredible Salon

This was honestly one of the best Aveda salons that I have ever been to. My friends and I have been here a handful of times now, and we all love the results.

I've been to many salons around the Lexington/Columbia area looking for a high-end bargain, cause I get my hair highlighted and cut about every 3 to 4 mo's (and I'm protective about my hair). I was really impressed by all aspects of this place, even the first impression was lovely..when you first walk in you're greeted by the staff and by a really beautiful, clean, fragrant, new space. I was offered hot Aveda tea, Folgers coffee, and even cappuccino or hot chocolate when I sat down, and before my actual hair cut or color was given a (free) neck and shoulders tension-relieving massage (my friend got a facial from here a month ago and was really impressed by the extra hot towel wraps that were done for her arms and legs--and she was just getting a facial). they use only AVEDA products every step, like at shampoo/condition/color/styling. and they were really patient and listened to exactly what I wanted for cut/color. we held up lots of differet color-swatches to my hair and definitely took as long as I wanted to figure out what I wanted my highlights to be. I liked that they had the new colors for each season, like the Aveda fall/winter 08 or summer/spring collection, which was something that wasn't offered at any other previous salons. My hair cut was amazing---I have really thick hair and my stylist, Kelly, was able to add in very natural layers that gave shape to my whole hairstyle without needing too much primping (which I really appreciate b/c I don't have the time, patience for straightening, curling, etc my hair)

Overall this is a great salon, and I highly recommend it to anyone, especially looking for a great Aveda salon!
