University Place Apartments

DO NOT MOVE IN HERE!

The water is constantly being shut off, due to poor maintenance. They keep putting a quick fix on the pipes, like every other maintenance issue, so the water will be shut off for an entire day, multiple times. The parking is inadequate and hard on your car because of the slope and pot holes. The complex is dangerous, with drug dealers and car break-ins. The worst part is how the windows are so close to the doors that people can break it and reach in to unlock the door and steal all your stuff. My brother-in-law lives in this same complex and someone broke in during the middle of the day and stole his laptop and tv. Being close to campus, I assumed that many people who live here would be students (which there are some) but mainly it seems to be the dregs of society. The laundry is allows broken so you end up using twice as many quarters as needed to move over the clothes that you put in a broken washer/dryer, also clothes go missing from your laundry if you do not stay with them. This is a terrible complex, and I am pretty used to low-income housing. I would not recommend it to anyone, and perspective STUDENTS this place is NOT FOR YOU, other complexes are comparably priced and much closer/safer/nicer than here.

I lived at UPA for 1 year. It was hell!! THEY NEVER FIXED ANYTHING!!! This entire complex should be condemed. Crime was bad and all the people gave a damn about was your money. I had a situation where I get ready to clan my bathtub and I pick up my bathmat to clean under it and the porcleain part of the tub came up with the mat! I tell the people at the office to fix it. NOTHING. i told them repededaly. Nothing. Finally i took a day off from work after they said they would have somebody out to look at it the next day. I stayed at my apartment all day. It gets to aound like 445( the office closes at 5) and I call the office and they are like the matinence man has already been there. OMG. Dont think the people there wont lie to you. They will. I had to curse the people out at the office to get matinece man to go to my apartment. Then after all of that he tells me the bathtub was never installed the right way in the first place and Id have to move out of the apartment for a few days at my own expence!! It did get fixed, without me haveing to move out but It shouldent take all of that to get 1 thing done!! A friend of mine moved in next door. About a week after I moved out of this hell hole my apartment and her apartment got broken into. They kicked in her door and stole lots of her stuff. and yet the complex wanted her to stay in the apartment with no door and were like we cant fix your door till next week. WTF. Pay a lil more money in rent and go somewhere better.

Do not move into this apartment complex. They do not care about the welfare of their tenants. They do not care who they rent to. Numerous people have been arrested. There have been people that let their pit bulls run around without leashes. The courtesy officer is never availible. The noise is awful. I had to call the police the very first night i moved in because of the noise. The maintinence is terrible. My dishwasher was broken for over a year before they finally fixed it. There was no smoke detector when i moved in. The staff is rude. You can hear the jolly fox almost every night. So needless to say it is not a quiet place. There were times that i had to call the police 4 times in one week. People have had their gas stolen from their cars. People have broken into some of the apartments. If you have any alternative do not move into this apartment complex. living here was a complete nightmare.
