Worst Worst experience ever for my friend!! She paid for a private cremation & received a phone call from the doctor who said "'we cremated your grog with the "group" cremation, nothing you can do it about it now" it's one if the WORST vets in the Buffalo area!!! I would NEVER EVER recommend this place!!!

Overall

we have been using this vet for the past 2 years because they are convenient. the service and diagnosis for various issues have been good and that is as far as it goes. As noted in several reviews they are in it for the money and find multiple ways to pad and inflate the bill from reasonable to outrageous. They take the simplest issue and steadily layer one thing or another so the bill grows and grows and grows! Needless to say we are looking for a new Vet any recommendations welcomed.

be serious

So my kitten fell off my balcony last night, 3 stories. Took him here as it was only place open that was close. He needed a leg x-ray to make sure it wasn't broken. Ok I get it and have no problem with that as the x-ray would have been roughly $100. Yet for some reason there wanted to do a million other things Maki g the bill almost $800 just to tell us if his leg was broken before they could tell us how much more it would cost to fix him. When we declined, as he will be going to his real vet this morning, they where not so pleasant. Explain to me why the cat needs a catheter, iv drip, pain meds, anesthesia, and a over night stay just to get a leg x-ray. Never again will I bring one of my pets here

the worst ever!!

Last week our standard poodle took a nip at our 8 week old kitten we rushed to the nearest place at 11pm. at first they were great but their billing for emergency care is horrible they looked at the cat and brought in an estimate of 950.00 we allowed the dr. to take 2 xrays for a cost of 208.00 plus the 95.00 emergecy visit. they brought back xrays and told us that the kitten had broken ribs and possibly a punctured lung. sadly we declined their services due to the outrageous cost. we took kitten home and by morning was doing better. took to regular vet and she was not concerend at all, had to wait for four day to have them forward xrays and when the reg vet looked at them he said nothing was wrong at all. would reccomend not ever going here as they are reallly out to rob you!!!!

re:poor service from the front end

I am shocked by this review. I have been a client of Dr. Harper's for years and years, to when.he first started with Dr. May. Agreed that the front end is all new, which doesn't appeal to me, but your comments about Shannon (the office manager) are disturbing. I've seen many managers come and go, but there has not been one that I like nearly as much as Shannon. Her laugh is loud, but very contagious. She knows how to make conversation with clients, and she gets to know them, which is very genuine to me. She sends my wife and I anniversary cards every year, as well as birthday cards and Christmas from herself. I don't know what you call genuine, but I don't know how she would be anything but that.

Secondly, the staff is new, which again doesn't appeal to me. She probably wasn't pushing you off onto the new girl, she was probably making her do it so she learned how. That's how they train.

I feel sorry that this review is so negative about Shannon. She has been there for years, and I always know to call her if I want something done, and she will get it done. She was a complete asset to Dr. Harper's hospital. If the front end/office manager is all that you're worried about, then clearly you don't care that much about your pets!

Overall
Poor service from the front end.

I am a frequent flyer at grand island and I love dr. Kelver. But I absolutely hate dealing with the people upfront. I am in for meds every other week, nail trims once a month, shots and yearly with all three of my pets. I am most unhappy with the office manager. She's always so loud and seems fake with all the clients. She has never seemed genuine with any of us. And my most recent time I felt like she just shoved me off on one of the new girls who had no idea what she was doing, bless her soul, and yet she was so much nicer and kind to me. I can't recall her name but she had blonde hair. She was not able to take are of me by herself and this isn't the first time this has happened. It seems that every time I go in there there are new faces, which I don't mind. But they don't seem to know what they're doing. I love my vet, along with a few of the handlers although I can't recall any of their names, and they're the only reasons I am staying with this vet.

I have had to use their emergency services three times as of this date. Last time was the most urgent – I took my dog in when he couldn't breathe and they treated him immediately. His diagnosis was life threatening thus I was very sad. They took their time explaining to me his condition and let me come see him (though I feel they made an exception for me) in his oxygen cage. I was told he would have to stay several days and though it was very expensive (my only complaint) I felt it was the best place for him to be. They called the next morning to update me on his condition and told me he was responding much better than they predicted. He could come home that evening! I was thrilled. He is now on week 2 of his recovery at home and they have called me several times to check on him. I did have to take him in last night to have his former catheter site looked at as he was licking it raw. They treated it and was out if there quickly with no fee. I think that type of service is rare today. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone that wants the best for their pet in an emergency.

phillip:there is no caller ID..you are complaining about the wrong hospital. I have brought pets here for 20+ years, the staff and doctors have always been excellent, what a shame that these reviews all come down to the almighty buck. some people dont deserve to have pets. Its not a right, its a privledge, and when they get sick...it costs you money...dont blame the state of your finances on the caring people that have saved 2 of my pets at a very critical time, they are the best!

The staff and doctors at this ...

The staff and doctors at this hospital are some of the most loyal and heartfelt people that I've had the pleasure of not only going to and working along side of. They have always treated my dog with so much love that its an actually treat to take her to the vet. Its understandable that some people can have bad experiences at every place, but I can truthfully say that sometimes it is a misunderstanding and sometimes it can be the situation. For the gentleman that was upset with his pet with a possible urinary tract infection- I personally worked along this case with Dr. Kelver and she was extremely upset that you were unsatisfied with the visit- explaining that an exam was completed and offered to bring your pet in that day or at a week recheck that you declined. I know her personally and she cares so much for the animals and actually comes from poor background so I very much doubt you were a "car payment". Also you said yourself she talked to you in the room- can we go to the doctors office and not be charged an appointment fee? I hope that you do find a vet that is more to your liking, but you will not find one that more compassionate as those at grand island small animal hospital!

HORRIBLE and DISGUSTING Emerge...

HORRIBLE and DISGUSTING Emergency service after hours, my inlaws had an emergency with their 11 year old dog who suddenly took ill and while on their way with the dog they called from a cell phone and were DENIED help because they did not RECOGNIZE the cell number they were calling from with caller ID..............needless to say the dog passed before they could get help and GI small animal didnt care because of the CALLER ID. if your pet needs EMERGENCY care dont bother because they will DENY treatment if you are NOT a current BIG DOLLAR customer.....

I would never recommend this hospital. I went to the emergency clinic and after spending 700.00 they could not diagnose my 10 month old puppy. They would not let us come to see our dog. They would not give me a copy of the x-rays I paid 200.00 for so I could send my dog to another vet. They were nasty. I asked for my dog the have pain medicine and according to the bill he was never given any. End result I could not save our family pet. He will be truly missed and we love him so much

Overall
awful hospital

I will never use this hospital again. My dog, an adult male, was very sick and we went there, and we paid about $1300 for emergency care. They didn't have lab result soon enough to treat my dog promptly. We didn't know what he had, and he wasn't getting better for a few days. It was very frustrating seeing my dog suffered from an unknown sickness. I was wondering the meaning of their EMERGENCY service. I felt like my $1300 was gone for nothing. Fortunately, my dog seems a little better now after a week. If he died 2 days ago, without lab result, I would definitely have sued this hospital. I strongly recommend NOT going to this hospital, to save your animals.
