We've lived for 2 & 1/2 years in a passive solar, straw bale house built by Semmes & Co. We chose them because of their experience in and commitment to building energy-efficient, "green" buildings. Throughout the process the men and women who built the house demonstrated not only the highest standards in their industry, but also a willingness to solve problems and to go beyond our expectations in sharing their vision and talents with us. We were told early in the process that building a house is a team sport and, indeed, it was. As I look around our home today, I'm delighted to recall the many technical and aesthetic contributions made by the members of our team. If we had it to do all over again, we would choose Semmes & Co as our builder.

We have contracted with Semmes and Co for two major remodels and they have both been completed with great professionalism, on schedule and to our specifications. They take extreme pride in their work and the final product. They care about how the work performs over time and have always handled any issue that came up during or after the projects. They work closely with a number of vendors and work well as a team. They are always looking at the performance of their work and delivery of the final product by using green principles and green materials. If you are concerned with extra cost of going green, believe me, it is well worth it when you use a quality contractor.

Semmes and Company Builders are the first name I think of for environmentally friendly green construction. They are fully knowledgeable of the state and local construction codes and provide first class quality work at a reasonable cost.
