Overall
Just returned from Clearwater ...

Just returned from Clearwater Beach & a week at the Ritz Resort Motel / Westmont Inn. First I want to say that Casey was great! He knew all the best places to send us as he explained he grew up here. Not only would he suggest a restaurant - he would give us a name of a waiter/ waitress or bartender to assure us great service. Often giving us a coupon for free drinks or like a 10% discount on the meal coupon. The secret beach he sent us to was heaven! The most beautiful pristine beach you ever saw and we only seen 3 other people on this beautiful beach absent any condo or hotel high rises. Only about 2 miles away where none of the tourists go or know about. Best shelling! Because the beach cleaning tractor thing doesn't need to come where nobody is leaving trash. If you book here - you gotta go!

Veronica and her daughter Jesse at front desk wonderful! I was very impressed by the service of the staff here. The cleaning lady I learned has been here over 16 years, from some European country I forget. She didn't speak the best english but enough to understand our requests for extra towels etc... she would ask, "You want service - I do for you." What a sweet old lady - I had ripped my swim trunks and she takes them from me and repairs them on her sewing machine? Who does this?

We had room #21 and the balcony in front was kinda shared with the next room over - but mostly we had it all to ourselves, what a great place to take in the sunsets and have a cold beer. Million dollar views! Beach is just across the street. Clearwaters beach has the most amazing powder white sand, the town keeps it all up & very clean. The walkways in front are wide and accented with artwork/ sculptures. The public restrooms and beach showers also very clean. It is easy to understand once you get here why this beach is rated one of the best in the USA. You will not be disappointed - much better then Miami Beach.

The Bad - Sign says heated pool, but still a bit chilly getting in & out. November visit - temp was 70's in day 60's at night. One day was cold with strong winds off Gulf during hurricane Sandy. 5 days out of 6 were nice. No jacuzzi spa. Wireless Internet worked okay but should have password protection as non motel guests using it caused speed to decline. Water pressure in shower could of been better and toilet slow and sometimes required flushing twice to go down. Motel repair guy told us when we informed him of toilet issue that it was our fault because we must be using too much toilet paper and then handed us a plunger. Really? But he also gave us a shot of whiskey from his stash so I suppose that made up for plunging our own toilet. Beds were a bit stiff, but mattress was newer and maybe just needed breaking in more. Some days we got perfect newer towels but a few days got older used 1 too many times older ones.

Honestly, it is an older aging motel - probably built in the 50's,or 60's but overall the place was clean. A bit old fashioned furnishings and box style TV no HBO or showtime, no in room movies or DVD player. Yet for the price one can't expect everything new, HD flat screen TV's etc... like you may find at a Raddison or Hilton. The place is a bit of a throw back, but in a good way. Nostalgic is a word that comes to mind. The Ritz Carlton it is not. Feels more like a bed and breakfast without the breakfast. Coffee and cheap cookies only. Packaged Cinnamon rolls or Honey Buns - even if you had to pay a dollar for one would be my suggestion. Having to pay 1.00 for dish soap seemed a bit silly, to wash few dishes we used. Left the rest in mini bottle for next guests.

Others we met had been there numerous times previously also. After our stay, we can't wait for next year and want to return as well. Easy to see why this place has mostly repeat clientele. Really the best value - when you compare prices to other near by places on beach. Staff makes you feel like your visiting their family.

LOVED IT! Great location EZ walk to everything, no car needed. Free Golf Cart Shuttle for when didn't feel like walking. Kids had fun riding on the carts too. Great Beach is just across street. Room clean even if some furnishings vintage 70's. Actually the little quirkiness of the decor added to the charm of this classic Florida beachfront motel. Nothing fancy - just plain - simple & good price compared to others near by less then 1/2 cost. Staff very friendly except for little chuiuaha? dog called "Belly", kind of the motels mascot and it is the "security guard" according to funny sign in elevator. Sign also warns kids they could be shocked and electrocuted if getting in elevator dripping wet, and that alarm button works because the motel had tested it - if kids hit emergency button they have to explain to fireman why they caused false alarm. Not true I am sure. Pool rules for kids says no running - penalty if caught 5 minute in time out chair. Very kid friendly place!

Great stay, super clean updated room with newer flat screen TV, new vanity and tile in bath. Bed was a bit stiff - but when I checked also new, Sealy. Would of liked a King bed but the best available was queen. Think interior designer tried, but colors a mix mash and don't really work together. Lime green and orange? With Burgandy victorian lacy - ribbon print. Views from 5th floor amazing. Staff good - cute little dog.

My husband and I were there in January 2012. We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. They put us in a room that right by the front so we could watch the beach activity while sitting on the patio. There was no glitz or glamour to the place, but we had a big, clean room with comfortable beds and fantastic rates, which was exactly what we were looking for. The staff was friendly and helpful, They cater to mature adults, no loud partiers. Of course families are welcome, and they have an elevator for disabled visitors. We plan on returning in the near future, and hope to plan many other trips there.

Probably the most rude staff ever dealt with. Was overcharged and never reimbursed.

When I realized I was over charged no one wanted to help and receptionist hung up on me several times stating she was too busy to talk. I left some personal items that were not retunred but then I was charged $28 for dirty towels. I was not even there for a period of 24 hours.
