Nutritional Counseling
O ne of the most important aspects of healthy pet care is maintaining proper nutrition, so the veterinarians and staff at Godspeed Animal Care provide pet nutrition counseling as part of your pet’s wellness exam. During your dog, cat, or exotic pet’s annual or semi-annual checkup, we discuss your animal’s lifestyle and recommend the best food to meet his or her needs.
Primary Care
Dr. Robb has called this area home his entire life, having grown up in Newport News. He is an SDEP® Abdomen Certified Sonographer, as well as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner. He graduated in 2004 from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, and has practiced primary care and emergency veterinary medicine throughout the Hampton Roads region, including running an animal hospital with his father. He and his wife enjoy spending time with their two daughters...who are growing up way too fast, going on hikes, getaways to the Outer Banks, and attempting to keep their cat and two beagles out of trouble. He looks forward to meeting you, and helping take care of your pets.

Dr. Hale moved from Vermont to Virginia in 2017, and after a year of commuting to Newport News joined Godspeed in 2018 in his newly adopted hometown of Williamsburg. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from Bowdoin College, his Ph.D. in biology studying biomechanics from Stanford University, and his DVM from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Dr. Hale’s special interests include neurology, Lyme nephropathy and other tick-borne diseases, and anesthesiology. His interests in infectious diseases have led him to become a member of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association and to attend several conferences abroad. Dr. Hale lives in Williamsburg with his wife and their three dogs.
Electrocardiogram
T he veterinarians at Godspeed Animal Care take dental health very seriously, as it is fundamental in maintaining a healthy pet. Pet dental care is not about cosmetics, but about preventing calculus from forming and preventing bacteria from getting in your pet’s blood stream. Each dental exam we perform holds to the rigorous standards set forth by the American Animal Hospital Association. Prior to the dental cleaning, pre-anesthetic blood work is performed on your pet to properly determine anesthetic parameters. During the procedure, a tooth-by-tooth assessment is performed and documented and radiographs are taken. Your pet’s vitals, such as blood pressure, blood oxygen and CO2 levels, and temperature, as well as electrocardiogram readings, are closely monitored by a dedicated surgical assistant. Your dog or cat receives intravenous fluids to help maintain organ function throughout the procedure.
Immunizations
W hether you have a puppy or kitten, adult dog, or senior cat, it is important to vaccinate your pet and keep those pet vaccinations up to date. The veterinarians and staff at Godspeed Animal Care provide the latest pet vaccines to ensure a healthy and long life for your animal. We keep accurate records of all your pet’s vaccinations and notify you when your dog or cat is due for a vaccination.

Once we have received the results and determined whether your pet’s skin ailment is food related, an environmental issue such as dust mites, or an autoimmune disorder, we recommend the best course of treatment. From there, we provide the appropriate pet food or offer allergy serum injections created specifically for your pet that will help build the necessary immunity to allow him or her to feel more comfortable.
