Sisters of the Wool

I was excited to hear a new knitting shop opening in Westport, Ma. The staff , The owner , and her son were there the days we went, and were very welcoming , and helpful. As an avid knitter/ knitting store hound , I have to say, the store is absolutely beautiful, but I was very disappointed withthe yarn selection, and expected finer quality yarns. She has way too many acrylic multicolor yarns that one would expect at a craft store, and frilly scarf yarns which I feel is the focus of her store.She had some hand dyed yarns, but nothing of good quality.There weren't many samples to inspire me, other than frilly scarf samples, and maybe five sweater samples that were hiddeous, ( you could tell they were from yarn vendors ... Those samples are always ugly)I do wish the owner well, I know she just opened only a few months ago, but I hope she gets better quality WOOLS. No nylon, acrylic , blended, multicolored $6.00 stuff. That's what "job lot" and Michaels are for.I guess I was expecting better yarns in a yarn store, especially in Westport, Mass!!! There really wasn't anything there I'd knit a sweater with. The only real wools she had were boring cascade and berocco. There was some great locally spun I considered, buy not enough to knit a sweater with. If I can give a shout out to the store/ owner..... Get some better quality yarns!!!!WOOL ! Lopi... Madeline Tosh.... Blue Sky Alpaca..... Dream in Color.....Claudia Handpaints.... Gosh even a basic wool tweed, any wool tweed.The shop is aesthetically beautiful and spacious and colorful. The owner sweet and very helpful , and I do recommend the place for that reason and if you like acrylic novelty yarns But if you want better yarns, wools, and good handpainted/ hand dyed wools you will likely be disappointedwith this establishment .
