General Info

The five core values. Which justify the outline of this plan. Are need. Universality. Excellence. Reward. And OPPORTUNITY. NEED exposes OUR obligation. Because of OUR belief in the power of debate. To ensure that every student in the D. C. School system CAN participate in the activity if they desire. Historically. Some schools have NOT been able to support year after year debate programs. And the proposed model in the strategic plan is attuned to the unique requirements (and advantages) of washington. D. C. While every student in the D. C. Area will have the ability to participate in the incubator. The League’s recruitment focus will BE on lesser RESOURCED. Non-magnet schools with the greatest NEED. UNIVERSALITY establishes OUR commitment to make D. C. Urban debate league programs. The incubator along with existing public debate format tournaments. Available to the diverse array of schools in the area. While negotiating with them based on their circumstances. Every student body will have the potential to participate in the incubator if individual debaters CAN meet its requirements and cooperate with their OWN school (which will eventually have coordinators with modest stipends). Anchored AT a core DCPS institution. Dunbar Senior high school. The league will demonstrate. Focusing resources in ONE place. The efficiencies that CAN establish a NATIONALLY-COMPETITIVE program the entire city will BE proud OF. EXCELLENCE refers to the league’s commitment to NOT place limits on the achievements of its debaters. The director of the incubator will work to provide national travel opportunities for its TOP teams. And it will compete in the most rigorous and competitive debate formats compatible with college SUCCESS. REWARD indicates the requirement. In the specific circumstances of D. C. . To support behaviors that bolster Academic achievement and life skills. Participants in the D. C. Urban debate league incubator will BE offered after school food. Homework MENTORING. And other incentives that Balance OUT missing income from after school WORK. ​ opportunity expresses the league’s commitment to take advantage of the resources of washington. D. C. To ensure that its debate minds have ALL opportunities to receive internships. JOB support. MENTORING. And networking assistance. The league will work constantly to establish partnerships with the many D. C. LAW. Policy. And media organizations that will support Academic achievement and future opportunities for its debaters.

Public. Private. Charter and home schools.

Location

Located in the heart of Chinatown, but all of our schools are in Northern Va, Montgomery County, Prince George's County, Fairfax County, Arlington County and the District of Columbia.
