Mount Pleasant Ruritan Club

In November 2008, we held my 50th birthday celebration at the Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club. The facility was very good. Don Foster was very easy to work with when making all of the arrangments. We were able to get into the building in plenty of time to set-up the tables and decorate the room. We mainly chose the Ruritan Club because they allowed us to have alcohol in the building. Many other places we checked into would not allow alcohol to be brought in. The building was the perfect size. We had a little over 100 guests and it was ideal - not too big but not too small. We especially like the stage that is available for the DJ. It was nice that the DJ was elevated and did not take up any room on the main floor that we needed for seating and dancing. The only reason we did not give the Ruritan Club 5 stars is because we were not allowed use of the oven and stove. Our original plan was to have hot food but without the use of the oven and stove, we felt it would be best to serve cold food and not have the concern of the hot food getting cold and having no way to re-heat. This turned out to be a great decision. So, not having the stove and oven worked out fine for us. We also had to bring from home any kitchen supplies. At first, it was kind of a pain to make sure that you had everything you needed but it made clean up much easier. There was no confusion as to what was mine and what belonged to the facility. We had many guests comment on how nice the facility was and would consider renting it in their future if a need arose. We would certainly rent the Ruritan Club again!
