Dr. Reisman has served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Community Memorial Hospital and on the Executive Committee of the hospital for several years and was also Chairman of the Interdisciplinary Committee at Community Memorial Hospital. He was hired by CMH to develop a series of ambulatory care clinics throughout Western Ventura County and became the first Medical Director of the Centers for Family Health serving from 1994-2008. The Centers for Family Health now encompass twelve outpatient centers for primary and specialty care throughout Western Ventura County contracting with 100 physicians in 25 specialties and 300,000 patient visits per year. Dr. Reisman was inpatient Medical Director of Community Memorial Hospital from January 1999 to October 2003. He is currently Vice President for Ambulatory Medicine at Community Memorial Hospital and is actively involved in recruiting new physicians to the Ventura area.

Endometriosis
Used correctly, the patch is as effective as birth control pills are in preventing pregnancy. The patch is a form of birth control that a patient wears on the skin and looks like a small band-aid. The hormones it contains (estrogen and progestin) are similar to those used in birth control pills but are absorbed through the skin. The patch works by suppressing the pituitary gland which, in turn, prevents the ovaries from releasing eggs. It also thickens cervical mucus making it more difficult for sperm to reach an egg. Since the patch contains a dosage which is 60% higher than that delivered by the pills, there is the risk of side effects such as blood clots. Because of this, it is essential that patients using the patch do not smoke. The patch can also be used to treat irregular periods, menstrual cramps, or endometriosis.

Wendy Margolis has been an OB-GYN Nurse Practitioner since 1989. A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Nursing (BSN) she received a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Cal State L.A. and got her Nurse Practitioner Certificate from UCLA. While at UCLA she was elected to Sigma Theta Tau Honor Fraternity. After beginning her career in Internal Medicine she turned her practice to OB-GYN at Buenaventura Medical Group in Ventura. She practiced at Buenaventura for 18 years and while there taught prepared childbirth classes and provided a wide range of women’s health care services such as colposcopy, endometrial biopsies and IUD placement. In 2006, Wendy joined Ventura County OB-GYN and continues to provide care for women from adolescence to menopause.
