Tom enjoys helping people of all ages with their vision care needs. He has special interests in the fields of contact lens, aging vision, progressive and computer lenses, and refractive surgery co-management. Eye care emergencies always are priority number one for our team no matter what the time of day or night. Dr Funnell is licensed to diagnose and to prescribe medication to treat many eye diseases. Tom received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry from U. C. Berkeley. His research in cornea physiology with extended wear contact lenses won a national award. He has been in practice for about 20 years and was Staff Optometrist for Dr. McKinzie. We had 10 years at the Buenaventura Mall and Tom was a founding partner of a Ventura Optometric group, before leaving that group in 1999. Tom’s great wife, Carol Simmons, and two sons, Colin and Evan, are active in the community, schools, church, and outdoor life. He enjoys visiting, golf, skiing, cooking, and hearing how your family is doing. I’m looking forward to seeing you for personal vision care.
