Concrete Driveway - Favorite Contractor Used In Last Ten Years

In early summer 2014 we contracted with John Zuber concrete to put in a new driveway. It's now 6 months later, and we have been happy with the work every day of the last 6 months. There were complexities - a hill sloping two directions, a curve, a drain to relocate, and synching with the neighbor who was doing a driveway at the same time. John and his crew were responsive, on time, handled weather delays well, always got back to us when we had questions - and important to me, the quality control and clean up were exceptional, which is not always true with contractors. With John, there were no surprises, every unfolded as planned. We came up with an interesting design pattern, and that worked well too. The job was so exceptional people we don't know have stopped to compliment the work. We highly recommend John Zuber and his crew.

Driveway and Drainage

My steep concrete driveway had been damaged by tree roots and issues with cracked storm drains. The project included demolition of existing concrete, excavation and replacement of piping, and repouring the concrete driveway. Zuber served as general contractor and sub-contracted the plumbing repairs. All work was done in a professional manner with multiple contractors working seamlessly together. The end result looks great, even after two years, and the price was very reasonable considering the scope of work.

Professional and Communicative Contractor

Zuber demolished my existing stairway and walkway to my front door, and repoured new concrete. Also demo'ed and repoured a single section of my driveway where a tree root had caused the slab section to crack and raise.Overall I am extremely satisfied with their performance. I would undoubtedly use them again. There are three qualities of this business which generally I am not used to but I experienced with them. The first is that they are very willing to listen to a customer's preferences and accommodate them. The second is that the crew is top-notch. The foreman, Carlos, is seemingly gifted. He listens, communicates, and executes in rare fashion. I should mention that I am a civil engineer and am a picky person; generally I do not get along with contractors. My only gripe is that I felt that the crew could have been more careful at the interface with my hedges ... however I will take some of the blame for this because I did not make my concerns clear in advance. I am sure they would have followed whatever restrictions I would have placed. To summarize, I highly recommend Zuber and I would use this business again without hesitation.

Replacement and Improvements

The driveway, patio, and garage landing with steps at the house were completed with focus and excellent workmanship as seems typical of Zuber projects in the neighborhood. John was most responsive to questions & concerns, provided clear bid & contract information, and took care to oversee the project. Communication with the lead person was straightforward and informative as well as collaborative with the homeowner and designer. John’s responsiveness to the project leader’s suggestions about method and timing improved the quality of the work. The workmen were courteous and considerate of the homeowner as well as neighbors.

The finishing touch for our house.

John and his crew have created the finishing touch for our house. The beautiful walkways they built replaced the dirt and mud paths we have lived with for too long.I was very pleased with the way they always showed up when they said they would, rain or shine. The job was finished on time and for a fair price.I would not hesitate to recommend John and his crew to anyone needing quality concrete work.

Beautiful new driveway on a hill

John replaced a fairly long, two-car wide, sloping driveway for me. I knew the job would be done well. John has done a number of driveways in the neighborhood and they all look great year after year. My confidence was rewarded as I now have a beautiful, new driveway. The price of the driveway was very competitive and included all the right stuff: rebar support, compacted gravel base, specific concrete strength and so forth. The preparation and installation went smoothly. The crew was very professional and took obvious care to do things right. The foreman of the job was very meticulous and conscientious. It was obvious the job was in good hands. The site preparation and pour went smoothly. The brush finish has exactly the right texture for the slope of the driveway. Site cleanup was superb. The driveway has already received many positive comments! Great job at a good price done by folks I knew would do the job right. Wow!

Beaumont-Wilshire Neighborhood

I'm pleased to be giving the highest marks to John H. Zuber Construction. In October of 2010 we hired John to remove and replace two sets of concrete steps and a walkway at the front of our home. It was important to us that the new set be nearly identical in keeping with our older neighborhood and the particular style of our house and lot. They nailed it; the minor changes he suggested (including the finish) resulted in both safety and visual improvements. We couldn't be more pleased with the final result. The Zuber price was competitive with the two other estimates we received. (Always get three, you know!) We chose Zuber based largely on John's very informative estimating process; we felt he really gave us the information we needed to make our decision. We also looked at some of Zuber Construction's previous and on-going work in similar neighborhoods. Again, they had nailed it.We do not hesitate to recommend John H. Zuber Construction for concrete work-- we'll use them again!

Concrete wall, grand stairs, driveway - Beautifully and professionally done - by Mark & Cheri Klein

We were so lucky to find John Zuber Construction for our concrete work. He rescued us from what was a disastrous start with another contractor. We looked at a few of the projects John had going and knew we would be in the right and most professional hands. Our project was huge, but at no time did we doubt he could handle it. He and his employees were always on time and always professional. We have had many people walk by and ask who did our concrete work and comment on how beautiful it is. If we ever need work done in the future, it will be John Zuber Construction!

Road and Concrete Project Turned Out Perfect - Very Professional

Two years ago I hired John H Zuber Construction to build a gravel road, about 75 ft. long x 16 ft. wide, through a pasture to my horse barn, and pour a concrete floor in the barn. They prepared the ground for the road, put down a fabrick , I think called road cloth, then a layer of 2 inch rock and then 3-4 inches of 3/4 minus gravel. The road, after over 2 years, still looks and works great - no sink holes. My horse barn is 24 x 36 pole type construction. I specifed a slope of 1 " to the opening of each of the 4 stalls. I also specified a broom finish as the stalls have matts so no need for a rough finish. The floor turn out perfect and the slope was exactly what I wanted. Last summer I hired John H Zuber again to pour a 24 x 16 pad outside two of the stall doors. The pad has a slope of 4" and a rough raked finish so the horses will not slip. Again project turned out perfect. I would hire John H Zuber Construction again and recommend them to any of my family and friends.
