We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.
Pain Management
Anything that causes pain in people can be expected to cause pain in animals. Pets may not show the same symptoms of pain as people do; they usually don't whine or cry, but often just stay quiet and rest. This behavior is usually beneficial after surgery. Pain medications needed will depend on the surgery performed. Major procedures require more pain relief than things like minor lacerations.

Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Veterinary Surgery
Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. A board certified surgeon is available for many specialized surgeries, giving you and your pet the convenience and familiarity of our environment with the expertise of a boarded surgeon.
Spaying and Neutering
Spaying or neutering can be done at approximately 6 months of age. Your pet is given an exam prior to surgery to help determine whether your pet is healthy enough to undergo the surgical procedure. Current vaccinations are required at the time of surgery. Also a pre-anesthetic blood screen is recommended prior to undergoing anesthesia and surgery.

Laboratory Services
Preanesthetic blood testing is helpful in evaluating the risk of anesthesia. Blood testing in the clinic before surgery will ensure that your pet's liver and kidneys can handle the anesthetic. Even apparently healthy animals can have serious organ system problems that cannot be detected without blood testing. If there is a problem, it is much better to find it before it causes anesthetic or surgical complications. Animals that have minor dysfunction will handle the anesthetic better if they receive IV fluids during surgery. If serious problems are detected, surgery can be postponed until the problem is corrected. For geriatric or ill pets, additional blood tests, electrocardiograms, or x-rays may also be recommended before surgery.

No, we do not board healthy animals, but will keep sick animals and animals recovering from surgery in our hospital as needed. We provide only medical services related to the skin and coat of an animal, but do not offer routine grooming services.

Small Animal Vet
Dr. Kathleen Fearon's road to becoming a small animal veterinarian was not a typical one. She became fascinated with research while an undergraduate student at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and went on to receive her M.S. from UCLA. After completing the Ph.D. program in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Massachusetts, she went on to do postdoctoral work at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. It was there that she decided to go to veterinary school and received her D.V.M. from Auburn University in 1997.
