I was vacationing at the beach and my car would not start. Called AAA & had it towed to DeFalco's. They called me & told me I needed a new starter. When I went to pick the car up that day, they told me that there was a warning that my key was not being recognized. They said they thought it was my computer & I should take it to the dealership a.s.a.p. I went to start my car & it would not start. The Service Manager had to wiggle the key around to start it. I jumped in and drove it back to my brother-in-law's. Turned it off & noticed that the ignition was turned sideways. We wiggled it to try to start it & decided to wait until I got home to have it checked. I called the Service Manager & told him about the ignition. He told me it was in place when he started it. We finally wiggled it until the ignition popped back in place. Guess what? There was no warning, it was not recognizing the key because of the ignition. I thought my problems were over until I started home & we had no A/C & then my car ran hot. Drove back & my brother-in-law, who is not a mechanic said it sounded like the fan was not running. He looked in my owners manual & guess what? DeFalco's left my fan unplugged when they changed my starter. What really bothered me is that I talked with Sean, the Service Manager & explained what happened. He said his mechanic was not there at the moment & he would find out if he had to unplug the fan to get to the starter. It has been almost 2 weeks & evidently his mechanic never came back! I hate being lied to. Soooo, my daughter fixed the ignition & my brother-in-law fixed the fan. DeFalco's got $317.00 & I still had to take my car to the Ford dealership. Thankfully, they checked everything out & it seems we fixed it. Best part is they did not charge me!!!!!

On May 14, 2018 my girlfriend woke up to a flat tire on her truck. She has had excellent experiences with aaa in the past and contacted them to change the tire. They dispatched this company to change the tire and the first text I got was the technician was being rude to her. Then I got a call from her telling me he could not change the tire because SHE didn’t have the tools that he needed. I spoke to the technician on site and he told me he needed the tool to lower the spare tire which I then relayed to her and she said she had it. The next call I got was her telling me the technician just put air in the flat tire and said she did not have the right extension for the tool and he could not change it. He then left her with a flat tire. So what did she do? Figured it out and changed it herself. Extremely sad that she was able to make due with what she had and was able to change it by herself and a “technician” with a truck full of tools just gave up and left her stranded. I understand each car is different when it comes to how the spare is mounted but to rely on a person stranded to provide tools to someone who does it for a living is sad and unprofessional. I work in the trades and have to figure out a way to make things work with the tools I have every single day and would lose my job if I just left a customer without solving their problem. I contacted the company EXTREMELY heated and was regretfully rude to them and had some choose words however that does not excuse the fact that even the company tried to blame their “technicians” lack of mechanical abilities on her not having what he needed to do the job. And my question still remains. If she didn’t have the right tools how was she able to change it when he left? I am extremely unhappy and angry with this company. I do not recommend this company to anyone unless you are driving a service truck full of tools to provide the technician when he gets there. But then you may as well do it yourself.

Overall

So a few days ago, my daughter was down in Myrtle Beach with a bunch of college friends on a graduation fling, 10 hours from home, when her Rav4 decided not to run anymore. Also, her spare tire was flat. AAA towed her to DeFalco's and I had them call me. I basically gave them carte blanche to do anything they could do get the car running, fix the flat, sell me a new tire if it couldn't be fixed, etc. etc. etc. I pretty much knew they had me where they wanted me, but I needed to get my little girl back home safely and money was not going to be an object.

Couple of days later, lots of diagnostics, test drives, they come to the conclusion that nothing was wrong with the car. One of the girls sharing the driving probably was unfamiliar with the shift lever and put it into neutral by mistake. Or something. We may never know. The spare was fixable. Total bill: $15. Everybody made it back north safely.

These guys have integrity folks. Irene was mighty nice to talk to on the phone and my daughter said that the tow truck driver was an honest-to-goodness Southern Gentleman. On our next trip to Myrtle, we are taking broken, oil-change-needing, untuned cars for these guys to fix. You should too. Make these guys prosperous!
