My bloodhound Chief got out of my backyard while I was at work and was hit by a car. The person that hit him brought him here to the ER but it was too late. Chief didnt have his collar on and they found me on facebook after seeing my post that Chief was missing. The staff was very kind and made this traumatic experience easier. My husband went to pick Chief up and they put him in a nice casket box and made a clay paw print for me. No charge. Thank you so much for being so sympathetic. This is a difficult time for me and I'm so happy I have his paw print to frame and am able to bury him at home.

We referred to the small animal hospital by our vet in Norman. The vet and 4th year vet student, Eunice, were absolutely wonderful. They couldn't save our little 3.1 pound tea cup yorkie. However, they did everything they could. They were so compassionate. Eunice has called to check on since his passing on Feb. 17. It was very emotional for my husband and me. Eunice cried right along with us. We could really tell she cared.

The wonderful vets there saved our Boston Terrier's Eye after her scratch turned ulcer ruptured! We drove 2 hours to get her there & they operated as soon as they saw the extent of the damage & could get the OR ready! Great followup visits, too!

My dog developed a urine leak that became quite concerning. I consulted my normal vet and they couldn't figure it out.So needing a better vet I came to the teaching hospital knowing they were good but expensive. The student that took care of my dog was extremely friendly and answered all the questions I had. The vet, Dr. Syp, was wonderful as well. She found what was causing the urine leak and had him in surgery in about 5 days. Which was fantastic news! Yes this vet clinic is quite expensive but I tried going to a cheaper vet and they could not solve the issue. The staff was friendly and efficient and put me at ease when I was concerned. I would recommend this vet clinic to anyone with a sick animal. My only complaint would be the front desk ladies were rude.

I did a lot of research to find a vet that offered a thimerosal free vaccine for rabies. The OSU vet school actually took the time to check and called me back to tell me yes they did have that type of vaccine. I got an appointment for my dog to get a rabies shot. The exam room had 4 cameras and two microphones for teaching purposes I am sure. They asked me a lot of questions that didn't pertain to getting the rabies shot for my dog. The student conducting the interview and initial exam was very nice and she was as gentle with my dog as possible. I did not like them taking my dog to another room where I couldn't see what they were doing or the fact that the actual Vet came in and argued with me about what my pet needed. He wanted to give her a cocktail of vaccines and he tried to push heart-worm medicine at me when it is not necessary since it is too cold for mosquitoes in this area at this time.

I don't like students working on my animals, I would rather a doctor with experience work on my animals. I wasn't happy with my experience there at all.

I find Lilly's statement very difficult to believe. I took my rabbit here for the same procedure (minus the tear duct drainage) and my rabbit did fine. The exotic vets at this school are top of the line. If Lilly had been closely listening to the vet (she probably was not) they explain that rabbits don't do well under anesthesia because they are prey animals. "They payed 200 for this atrocity." You can't expect to get the services for free just because your rabbit died under anesthesia (again, something you were probably warned against). Take your rabbit to a real vet? These vets care for your animals by human medicine standards so if you want go ahead and take your rabbit to another vet then so be it.

Please do not take your pets here; they may never come home again, even if they are mostly healthy and only going in for a minor procedure. We had a sweet three year old rabbit who merely needed his teeth trimmed and to have his tear ducts cleaned. We were told the vet he was seeing was a “rabbit specialist” and he would be in good hands. He was NOT dying or sick when we brought him in, but a few hours later, he was gone. They hadn't even gotten to his eye, they lost him on the procedure that was so easy most people do it at him, the tooth trimming. They told us that they did not have him under the proper levels of anesthesia when they somehow ended up cutting his gum (blood was pouring out of his mouth), and basically he panicked and died. Then they charged us $200 for this atrocity. I found them to be incapable and overly focused on the scientific aspects even when they were explaining his death; going into details I simply did not want to hear about after being faced with such shocking and sad news. They will use your animals as learning tools, not patients to be treated carefully. We lost a pet we loved dearly over their negligence and lack of care and skill. I would hate to see this happen to anyone else. I will tell everyone I know never EVER to trust your pet to this teaching hospital. Go to a real vet instead, don’t risk your pets to someone who may be just learning.
