Quality Workmanship For Your Home & Business Affordably

General Info
“C reative concepts, quality construction, courteous service, affordable prices are all keys to the 25-year success of Affordable Home Improvements,” as enthusiastically stated by George Zarras, General Contractor, Designer, and Owner. Since founding the business, Zarras focuses on remodeling and room additions. “The majority of our projects are residential and business additions, remodeling kitchens, bathrooms, custom sunrooms and custom home building for existing clients. We offer creative concepts and then execute the project on time and within the customer’s budget,” says Zarras. “Our focus is the home and business owner. We realized early in our history that women represent or influence 100% of the remodel or construction decisions. We consistently strive to make the project pleasant, professional, and superior to our competitors.” This professionalism and attention to detail is demonstrated throughout the project. Over the past decade, the company has had only 1-2 service calls per year. That represents less than 1% of all customers. We strive for 100% customer satisfaction. That is why we consistently look for new and innovative ways to make our project unique, both in experience to the customer and execution. To add to the experience, we are the only local home improvement and remodeling company which also has a full service home and business contract cleaning company: Affordable Cleaning Services. “Affordable Cleaning Services reflects our business focus. The company has a number of large contract clients, which have included the Hilton Hotel at Branson Landing. We also have weekly professional residential and business clients. Our cleaning services and staff are consistent and professional,” Norena Zarras says. So whether it is a room addition, sunroom, kitchen, or bath remodel; a business remodel, or ongoing cleaning of your home or office, Affordable Home Improvements should be your first call. Thank you and your team of professionals for the exceptional and unique kitchen remodel on our home. We never would have dreamed it possible before meeting you, George. We have some additional work at the house to discuss with you in the New Year.

Overall

My husband & I used George as a general contractor for the building of our home. This was the first time we had used a general contractor. We found him from the BBB's website. When we met with him we were impressed by his printout of each stage of the project & how it was broke down with the total cost overall. This was the last time we were impressed with George. All of his estimated cost in his printout were estimates & weren't broken down by actual cost. If we saved money on materials the cost of the project never went down. Included in the cost of the bathrooms were the shower heads. We were taken to Lowe's to pick from 2 that George had chosen. He was unable to tell us the budget we had to pick one. We expected him to say "The budget is $200. If you select something more expensive that will increase the fee & less expensive will lower the fee." This was the only fixture in the ENTIRE house that was included. That was very odd. We had to supply, by supply I mean we had to go to the store, buy them & deliver them to the job site, all other faucets, lights, fans, door knobs etc. George also asked that all fixtures we bought including appliances be delivered to the site earlier than needed for installation. They sat in the garage for a week before they were installed in the house. During this week neither George or his contractors bothered to look at what we bought to make sure they would work, check dimensions (which he didn't supply any requirements before we bought them), or look at instructions for installation. We have propane & bought an oven that was gas but convertible to propane. The plumber told George I bought the wrong item & they swore we were in the wrong. My husband went to the job site, pulled out the drawer on the bottom of the oven to locate the attachments included to convert to propane. This is one example of George's professionalism. Another example is my husband showed up at OUR home & overheard George complaining to one of his contractors about how awful my husband & I were. He was complaining about how we wanted the medicine cabinets in the wall & why didn't we just buy a different kind. My husband informed George that he said his guys could do it how we wanted. George didn't even try to explain himself. Once I met George at Panera after work to go over some changes. I brought the 1 paint color I wanted for the house. He was excited it was just 1 color & started complaining about another client that wanted each room painted a different color. Last example is I sent an email to George about how disappointed I was in how my kitchen cabinets turned out. I don't like the height they were installed at & was never consulted. George sent a "confidential" email to my husband complaining about me & telling him that he needed to get me under control. My husband forwarded it to me & I then replied to George. If you want a cookie cutter home that looks like it came off the showroom floor of Lowe's then George is your man. If you want anything to be imaginative then find a contractor that will listen. George talked AT us not to us. I could go on & on about how unhappy I am with his service. My advice is to stay away from him. Our project was too much for him to handle. He might be able to remodel a closet on budget.

Excellent Work and Reasonable

We had two bathrooms and a kitchen remodelled by Affordable Home Improvements. The owner/contracter George Zarras was referred to us by two different friends and relatives. He helped us design and expand our existing two bathrooms and kitchen, unlike other contractors who merely wanted to do the job. George was knowledgeable, experienced, courteous and wonderful to work with. His crews were all neat, ontime, excellent craftsmen, trustworthy and very helpful. A pleasant surprise was the final cleaning of the three rooms by Affordable Cleaning Services division of the company...they made the place really shine. The entire project was done within our time frame and budget and we are extremely pleased with the result. We are planning a room addition or sunroom in the future and will definitly use Affordable Home Improvements for the job.
