Many of the symptoms include pain when you first get up in the morning, burning, numbness and increased symptoms by the end of the day. Bunion Surgery
Dr. Kales will decide the best recovery options for you. You should expect to keep the area bandaged for 1 to 2 weeks. Some people will need to keep weight off the toe area immediately after surgery while others may partially bear weight. Our Foot doctor may suggest that you wear a special boot or hard shoe to protect your foot. By 4 to 6 weeks you may be able to transition to stiff-soled shoes. Expect to resume light exercise like jogging, biking, or swimming at 8 to 10 weeks if there is no pain and X-rays show full bone healing.

One type of conservative treatment is a bunion pad. Bunion pads work to alleviate pain by cushioning the bunion so it doesn’t rub against your shoes. Wearing orthotics in your shoes in another option for some. The uneven pressure that causes bunions is distributed more evenly when wearing orthotics that support your whole foot. These conservative methods can help to reduce pain and prevent the bunion from worsening.
Gangrene
Foot ulcers are open wounds that develop on the toes, heel, ball of the foot and the lower leg. They appear as circular or oval like divots or rashes in the skin and can vary in color, size and severity of pain. Many ulcers on the ball and toes of the foot are associated with diabetes; they can be painless and often go untreated. As the wounds get worse they get infected which, after time, can become gangrene and result in amputation.

Ingrown Toenails
Treatment for ingrown toenails is performed by gently numbing the toe, and then removing the offending corner of the nail. If you have chronic ingrown toenails, Dr. Kales can remove the root in the office to permanently prevent re-growth of the ingrown portion of the nail. The procedure may be performed in the office under local anesthesia with or without IV sedation and postoperative recovery period normally involves no more than one day off your feet, no casts or pins, and often little or no time off work depending on your occupation. Patients having digital surgery to permanently cure bone spurs and corns can usually return to their own shoes in 1-3 days. Ulcer
Poor blood circulation: A side effect of poor blood circulation or obstructions in veins or arteries is an insufficient supply of oxygen and nutrients to lower extremities. Because of this deficiency, developing sores cannot heal properly. Many sores can develop from a foot rubbing on a shoe or toes rubbing together. As time passes the sore will get worse and develop into an ulcer.

Calluses are thickened skin that usually develops at the soles of your feet especially under the heels, your palms or knees.
Fungus
Chances are you may have fungal toenails, a condition also known as onychomycosis. Nail fungus is when fungi infect one or more of your nails. It may start as a yellow or white area at the tip of the toe nail. The nails may become yellow or become thickened. The nail may become dull, flaky and painful. Most fungi like to live in warm, moist environments, such as swimming pools and showers. Shoes are another prime place form fungi to live because it is a dark moist warm environment. The body is more prone to fungal infection in the toes due to diminished blood flow to toes as compared to the fingers, which makes it harder for the body to detect and fight the infection.

Achilles Tendonitis
TREATMENT AND MANAGEMENT: At our office in Hudson Florida, our Foot Doctor will be able to examine your condition and determine if Achilles tendonitis is the cause of your heel pain.
