Jurin Japanese Restaurant

The two one-star reviewers (below) must have gone to another place or one on another planet. I took a party of 9 there last Saturday (5 adults & 4 kids aged from 2 to 9). It was wonderful!. Staff was attentive, and on top of everything. Drinks came quickly, then soup & salad, while the chef was warming up. All food was then prepared at table-side, cooked to perfection, and everyone thought it was fantastic. Entrees ranged from shrimp to steak & lobster to scallops to squid steak, plus fried rice and stir fried vegetables, all cooked in front of us with a dazzling display of knife work, spatula flipping and sleight of hand. Delicious food, wonderful entertainment, and we were treated with grace, dignity & good humor. One of my favorite meals this year! They also have a revolving conveyor belt-style sushi-bar, but we'll save that for another time. My only complaint is I haven't found an Asian restaurant yet that knows how to make a decent, dry, gin martini, but that was a minor draw-back. Total for dinner, drinks & tax was a couple of bucks over $200...well worth it, and worth a generous tip.

Horrible service, this place is going down hill fast, if you make reservations they make you wait over 20 minutes to get sited, while siting everyone with no reservations in front of you, wait staff is very slow and inattentive, and management does not care at all, they tell you to go screw yourself with a smile on their face

Frustrating service. Call to place an order on hold for 5 minutes. Order off menu on website, quantities are wrong, guy says website has never been correct, but now I don't have enough food for 5 people I am trying to feed. Get there to pickup, wait another 5 minutes at hostess table.

Everything is wonderful at Jurin in South Elgin. I would have to say my favorite part is the fact that they remember us - everytime. The food is awesome and my son loves the hibachi cooking. I enjoy that and the sushi bar - you can't go wrong with eating in or dining out.

The food is always good and my teenage kids love going there for their birthdays The staff always makes you feel special the sing happy birthday and give you a dessert it is a fun place for a special occasion
