Architecture Plus

We are opening a new business in Pigeon Forge, TN. We contacted Architecture Plus, because we needed floor plans (blueprints) as part of one of many criteria for approval. James A. Embry came out to take measurements and any info he needed in order to create the blueprints we needed. He spent approx. 1 hour talking to us and measuring our building, and told us a $500 down payment should cover all or most of his bill. IF there were any additional charges they would be minimal. He came out an additional 3 times to remeasure our restroom, charging more each time, (as if the bathroom were going to grow or shrink?) we are unsure if he simply lost, forgot, or whatever other possible reason he may have had to continue remeasure, as he never actually gave us a reason. After no response or even answer when we called, It was 3 weeks later when he called to say that we would owe him an additional $1400 for his time and effort to complete his job before he would provide us with the final draft of blueprints. He also insulted myself and business parter, which he referred to as my "cohort", saying there was a discrepancy in our measurements, (the ones he stood over and watched us do for him, instead of doing his job then himself, which eluded to the reasoning for his further billed visits still no explanation of there being more than one REmeasure. Of course this left us over a barrel, as we already paid the original fee he charged. Our only option at this point was to extend our open date, choose another architect, and start over with the process, and possibly sue him for his incompetence,and con which of course only keeps us from opening in order to have income to cover all those new charges for a new architect and lawyer. I certainly would not recommend employing the con artist at Architecture Plus for any reason whatsoever.
