S+D is led by partners Russell Shubin and Robin Donaldson. Russell and Robin are both licensed Architects and always collaborate on project strategy and other key aspects of project design and execution. With offices in both Culver City, CA and Santa Barbara, CA projects are organized as a team effort, led and coordinated by an assigned project manager and project architect. The offices are equipped to support in-house architecture, design, and visualization. S+D considers itself not just an architectural firm, but a progressive and design-minded company with a free and open studio atmosphere where creative experimentation is encouraged, while maintaining logistics and discipline of budget and schedule; critical to effective and collaborative business relations. This provides a dynamic tension leading to imaginative breakthrough solutions in form, materiality, graphics, and interior organization strategies. Shubin + Donaldson Architects was founded in 1990 by principals Russell Shubin and Robin Donaldson as a design-based architectural practice which specializes in developing livable environments with a refined sensitivity toward the land, its users, and context. With offices in both Culver City and nearby Santa Barbara, California, the firm jointly strives for distinction through the imaginative design of sophisticated, context-driven buildings and communities standing as expressions of the users, the environment, as well as the architects.
