The remodel of a 4000 s.f. home including kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and extensive landcape renovations and additions. Revised landscaping includes entire pool remodel, large soldier pile retaining walls, hardscape consisting of pool decking, walkways, gates and custom seating and planting.

Construction of a 30 unit market rate and below market rate housing project in Marin City, California. Design modifications prepared by Jazz Builders featured innovative tie back and soldier pier retaining wall system which saved the project developers over $1,000,000. Project subcontractors included MBE (Minority Business Enterprise) owners creating jobs for local subcontractors and employees.

Another way is through submersible pumps which sit on the floor of the cisterns and pump water into the irrigation system upon demand.

Decks
Jazz's responsibilities for this project was to design, permit and to completely reconstruct wood framed decks on this hillside home built in 1972. Jazz inegrated steel, stainless steel and Ipe wood into the desing to create a modern interpretation of the entry gate and stair system, along with an open stainless steel cable rail system. This project was completed in July 2011.
Gutters
The practical application of rainwater collection is simple and straightforward. The roofs of most homes are large enough to effectively capture the rainwater via the gutters commonly attached to the roof's edge. From the gutter, which needs to be properly screened to reduce the infiltration of leaves and other debris, the water is transported to holding tanks via the building's downspouts and piping. Prior to entering the storage tanks (cisterns), the water is filtered again to further reduce the amount of vegetative debris, bird droppings, etc. The rain water then enters the tank through a "calming" inlet which reduces the turbidity of the water in the tank and refrains from stirring up the water at the bottom of the tank. The water is then available for use as irrigation water during the dry months. There are a couple of ways of providing the stored water to the landscape irrigation system. One simple way is through gravity, but this requires that the home and storage

Development and construction of four single family residences in Fairfax, California in a existing but incomplete subdivision. Homes were some of the first designed to emulate the Craftsmen style of early California utilizing large front porches to encourage community interaction, interior and exterior columns, great rooms and gourmet kitchens. Homes range in size from 2900 to 3500 square feet.

Carpentry
He loves architecture and site design along with weekend carpentry projects from furniture to greenhouses. Kim and his wife Jeanne have traveled extensively around the world to explore not only the cultures of other people but also to enjoy those countries natural beauty, and not the least their culinary delights. Kim, Jeanne and their son Jared (just graduated Cornell University) recently spent a few weeks in Egypt traveling up and down the Nile experiencing not only the remarkable Egyptology but also the warmth and hospitality of the people.
Insulation
Single family home consisting of a main home with studio and garage above on a four acre parcel. This sustainable home was constructed to Marin County Green Building Certification, Gold Standard. This home features formaldehyde free insulation, R49 insulation in roof, "Perfect Aire" air cleansing system, outdoor fresh air intakes, plywood box cabinets to eliminate particle board outgassing and zero VOC paints.
