This is actually the first negative review I have ever written as I make it a habit of publicly recognizing and giving favorable reviews to businesses that go out of their way to provide quality service. But Steve Sorensen’s Ecogreen in St. George is shockingly unprofessional. Once Mr. Sorensen received my $5,000 deposit up front, he shamelessly avoided follow up communication. He did not return my calls nor avail himself to become familiarized with the upcoming job and its scope. Needless to say, he did not conduct a pre-site visit, accurately assess the time and materials required, nor schedule adequate time to perform the job. Amazingly, he and his workers completely failed to show up to work on the agreed upon day. When Ecogreen finally showed up for work the following day, they were unprepared. When attempts were made to reach Sorensen, he hid behind his inexperienced young secretary and avoided contact. Any “communication” was relayed through this poor girl who, like myself, was also caught in an unworkable situation. It was greatly disparaging to realize I was giving my entire savings to this guy who only wanted to take the money and move on to the next job. Never have I seen such a shameless display of disregard for the customer. My sense is that Sorensen is fully aware of his unscrupulous business dealings because he goes to every last extent to hide from his customers, and avoid looking them in the eyes while he’s extorting them. I could fill pages with how abysmally dysfunctional Mr. Sorensen’s operation is, from shamelessly exploiting his laborers to taking as many short cuts as possible, compromising quality to maximize profits. I don’t know how someone can still be in business while being so detached from the idea of communicating with the customer to ensure the desired end state is reached. I must also mention that among the many Ecogreen blunders was the improper procedure used to unload my new trees from the delivery truck, which nearly girdled some of them in the process (stripping their bark circumferentially and ensuring their death). Of course Mr. Sorensen would not answer his phone on the matter despite having previously told me the trees were guaranteed for three months. Instead he again hid behind his secretary and insulted my intelligence by having her call me to advise applying a root strengthening compound (to a dead tree). Hiring Ecogreen was the absolute worst business decision I have ever made. I am utterly shocked just how deplorable Ecogreen really is. I can only hope this review saves someone else from making the same mistake I did.
