Barcelona Housing Systems unveiled their revolutionary system for building affordable and sustainable housing in the heart of the Atacama Desert. Copiapo, Chile served as the inaugural site for 48 units of high quality residential units without the use of water and in record time. No scaffolding was utilized and no construction personnel were injured. The units were constructed with lightweight steel framing on top of 2100mm long Krinner Groundscrews. Rigorous seismic and product quality testing was a prerequisite to employing the Groundscrew as a viable building foundation. During construction, several earthquakes reaching magnitudes of 6.4 were absorbed by the structure as predicted by the engineering design.
