Dental Sealants
Sealants are one of the best and simplest ways to protect teeth from decay. Many patients we see are born with or develop very deep grooves and pits in their teeth. Some of these areas are too small for even a single toothbrush bristle to access, but they’re big enough for bacteria to colonize. As bacteria access these difficult to clean areas of teeth, they continue to absorb nutrients from food and drink and excrete a sticky, acidic biofilm known as plaque. Over time, plaque weakens tooth enamel and may lead to tooth decay. Children especially have difficulty brushing and flossing thoroughly enough to prevent decay in these deep pits and grooves. Resin Composite
Composite resin fillings are easily blended to perfectly match the natural color of teeth, making them a cosmetically superior option compared with traditional amalgams. Additionally, this material is better for the remaining healthy structure. Applied directly to teeth in a malleable form, composite resin fills even the small pits and grooves in tooth enamel, creating a strong, natural bond and preserving more healthy dental structure. Composite resin fillings are less likely to break away from the tooth, fall out, or lead to further decay as bacteria is trapped between filling and tooth as is the case with amalgams.

Deep Cleaning
To restore your oral health, our hygienist will deeply clean your gums with procedures known as scaling and root planning. Scaling removes plaque and hardened plaque called tartar, from teeth. Root planning smoothes the root surfaces of teeth, making it harder for plaque to form. With the Micro 980 soft tissue laser, Dr. Gunnin will remove the bacterial buildup in periodontal pockets so that gums will reattach to teeth.
