Allen & Coles Moving Systems

Run far, run fast, away from anyone associated with Allen & Coles Moving and take your business anywhere but there. My moving experience was an absolute disaster from start to finish. The packers did not listen to my instructions for items to be packed and not packed. Two small family heirloom items disappeared during packing, gone forever. Several items were damaged during packing. The packers shoved almost 30 pounds of leftover packing paper into boxes, leaving me to pay for the cost of shipping their paper. My suits were to be packed in vertical boxes. Instead they were laid flat and were a complete wrinkled, crushed mess on delivery. Allen & Coles missed my delivery date by almost a week, and did nothing but lie and give me the run-around when I asked to confirm a new delivery date. When I called to ask why, they referred me to Allied Van Lines National to ask about a driver. When I called Allied, they told me Allen & Coles had stated they would "self-haul" meaning they would provide truck and driver. It took me several heated and angry calls and more than a dozen hours of my time to finally get some action and get a driver assigned to deliver my property. When I called the owner Julian Coles directly, he refused to answer my call and instead had one of his flunkies call to give me another bunch of lies. Absolute disaster! Terrible! Top dollar prices for lies and lousy service! Don't be a trusting fool like me. Take your business elsewhere. Don't trust your valued property to these clowns.

I have never written a review before let alone a bad review, but this has been the most negative experience and expensive endeavor so I felt compelled to share it with other consumers in hopes that they do not use Allen & Coles or North American Van Lines. If I can spare just one individual or family from the anguish and expenses I have had, it will be worth it. This was the worst move and customer service experience I have ever had, and I have moved a dozen times in my life, 3 of them interstate moves. When our agent sold us on the moving experience with Allen and Coles, he never told us the movers would show up at our house in Maine on June 19, 2015, load up our belongings and unload them at their warehouse in Portland, Maine where they will sit for a month. Our shipment sat in Allen & Cole’s warehouse for 4 weeks and was delivered to us 3 weeks late. The last date of the spread was supposed to be July 1, 2015 and we received our partial delivery on July 21, 2015. We slept, ate and worked on the floor of an empty condo for 1 month waiting for our belongings to arrive in Colorado. After dozens of calls and emails, and pleading, we finally received a partial shipment of our goods; the rest is still sitting in their warehouse in Portland, Maine. What did arrive was completely damaged. Every piece of furniture has scratches, gouges and dents on them. The desk was wracked and twisted. The sofa cushions were used as packing blankets in and around the furniture so were all soiled and dirty with goopy gray residue on them. The trim on our expensive armoire was ripped right off. Hardware is missing for furniture that was taken apart at pick up in Maine by the movers. The cartons for mattresses were torn and the movers dragged the mattresses along the ground so the mattresses and box springs are filthy. All the furniture left our house in Maine taped up in packing blankets, and when it arrived in Colorado, the blankets were hanging off the furniture, and all the wood was exposed and everything was scratched, dented, gouged. Every single box was smashed as they were stacked in the moving truck haphazardly. Lamp shades and dishes in boxes were crushed and broken, items are missing and bikes were hung in the truck by their cables. I received a bike tire with no bike. Totes were broken and dropped out of the truck, spilling the contents on the dirty ground. I came across items in different totes and boxes like my children’s priceless art work that were stuffed into crates when they clearly fell out of their original boxes in transit. I have filed multiple damage claims but have yet to receive resolution. They still have the rest of our shipment in Maine, and I am not sure when or if we will ever receive the remaining portion as communication is scarce if at all.
