Sterling Homes Ltd

Pros: relatively inexpensive, short construction cycle, decent workmanship of subcontractors



Cons: limited blueprint options, careless architect, abrasive semi-retired owner (living out of state), limited and low-quality upgrade options, track-home builder who is not true custom-home builder



Summary: You get what you paid for. If you want quick turnround (from design to completion) half-a-million and up home with limited design option, Sterling is your ideal choice. While their workmanship and choice of options is only average, you at least will get your house on time and probably within budget. But if you truly want a custom-home with the quarlity that is associated with other true custome-home builders, you will be badly dissappointed. But beware, the contracted architect is very sloppy so the blueprint you would get is full of errors.



If you are willing do to the extra homework and interview all the homeowners (including me) who had their homes built by Sterling during 2012 in the Naperville area, you will find out that a majority of them are not happy with this builder. Most of them would probably say that they would recommend other custom builders in the area.
