The Pittsburg Police Department works to prevent, detect and investigate criminal activities through the enforcement of local, state, and federal laws and ordinances. It hosts a citizens police academy that provides various opportunities to citizens to participate in the department s operations. The department supports the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is a classroom program that helps to prevent drug abuse and violence among children. The Pittsburg Police Department also conducts bike patrol, ride along and community oriented policing programs. It operates an administrative services division and offers information regarding children and adult safety. The department is located in Pittsburg, Kans.
