Provided by DexKnowsI can't believe that I'm the first one to review this place! Well, the question is, Pat's or Geno's? Geno's or Pat's. Bring a big appetite to Passayunk Ave. and try both as they are on opposite corners. Safe neighborhood.

Geno's steaks are made of half gristle, half poop. At least, that's how they taste. There is nothing to recommend this filthy slime pit, save for the pretty lights which are only visible at night. Spend your cheesesteak money at Chinkk's, Pat's, Rick's, or Tony Luke's. Yeah, those places are dirty, too, but their food tastes infinitely better.

All i have to say is if u go there just expect to be treated like S***!!n Pats n Jims steaks are better. The owner passed away that's sad but he was a racist ahole. also If u don't speak English don't even waste your time.

I think the bread is better than Pats but the wizz could be runnier. The price is flat out too high (almost $15) for a mediocre sandwich fries and a drink.

MMM! love those rock hard buns and YUMMY! huge chunks of over cooked dry ground-beef tasting steak. And what's that? Puke on the sidewalk? YES PLEASE! We call that a Tuesday @ Geno's. Order the fries and bring them to Jim's so you can get a real steak.

Provided by SuperpagesWe came all the way from Buffalo N.Y.and the Poconos just to try Geno's Philly steak.Boy,were we disappointed. The steak was COLD and they just plopped on 2 slices of COLD provolone cheese and sent us on our way. There were pigeons all around us,and It was dirty. This place is highly overrated.

- General Info
- The place with the BEST Cheesesteak in Philly, Geno’s was founded by one of Philly’s own, Joey Vento in 1966. The man had two boxes of steaks, a few hot dogs, and $6 in his pocket when he turned on the grills at 9th and Passyunk. Neighboring joints predicted he’d last six months, tops. Little by little the shop at 9th and Passyunk drew more attention. Before long, people were saying they were the best steaks they’ve ever had. Joey kept at it. Business was booming in 1971 when Joey and his wife Eileen had a baby boy. Always one to do things his own way, Joey decided to name his son Geno. Joey passed away in 2011. Geno has since taken over the shop and is carrying on Joey’s legacy by serving up the famous Philly cheesesteak.
