Valley Hospital Fertility Center

I had a total knee replacement earlier this month. I found the doctor to be one of the best in the northeast; the hospital was secondary. My orthopedic surgeon did not disappoint me. My pre-op experience at Valley was exceptional. The education beforehand was comprehensive. My problems began when gradual intense itching surfaced after 12 or so hours and I was unable to sleep. As I itched, I found remnants of tape, adhesive and pads leftover from tests/ catheter. I advised staff. the nurse manger explained them away without apology or regret. On the 3rd day, a diligent nurse found a solution and remedied the itching problem. The itching had become worse than the surgical pain. Some of my aids treated me like a bother. Most were my night-time aids. All of the nurses were nurturing and conscientious.The last day, 2 aids set up my CPM machine and jammed it into my groin which impacted the pain block tube.I screamed. Later, as someone tried to remove the tube, I cried from excruciating pain. Those working on me questioned my "over-reaction". They stopped trying, then sent for the anesthesiologist who carefully/swiftly removed the tube with some pain. At that point, I asked to speak to a patient advocate. She arrived, I spoke. I noticed she did not take notes. I will follow-up with higher ups.
