Universal Security Instruments manufactures and distributes safety and security devices, including smoke, fire and carbon monoxide alarms; wireless doorbells; and home lighting systems. Its products are sold in major national retail outlets, and wholesale to leading residential and commercial builders and related distributors. USI was founded in 1969 and has corporate headquarters in Owings Mills, Md. Universal Security also owns a 50 percent share in a Hong Kong-based joint venture, which has a manufacturing facility in China. Universal Security Instruments trades on the American Stock Exchange under the symbol UUU.
