Middle schoolers take band in music class, Spanish as a foreign language, have been recognized numerous times at the annual Writer's Eye Competition at the UVA Bayly Art Museum for creative writing, have been invited to participate in the Folger Shakespeare Festival in Washington, DC each year since 1999, may choose to play on soccer, field hockey, basketball or lacrosse teams, and are accepted in competitive secondary school and public gifted school programs(Governor's School) for high school.
