Mr. Alfaro was born in Guatemala, where he began working in a shoe factory at age 9 and was an expert at making shoes at 12. He worked as a chemist, and then owned his own shoe factory. In 1974, Mr. Alfaro came to the United States. That is when Alpha Upholstery started; Mr. Alfaro found a vacant building and began his shop.
