Dr. Leo D Villaroman, MD

This was a two part incident. I went to a new doctor to be seen for a severe illness. When I arrived at Dr. Villaroman's office I was informed, that even though I had insurance I would have to pay full price for the visit and that the Dr. Villaroman would repay me once the insurance covered the cost of the visit. Being as sick as I was, I paid the full price of the office visit. Within a few weeks I received notice from my insurance stating that they paid for the visit minus my co-pay. I took this statement to the doctor and was told that they would call me later when a check was ready. I waited, and after a few months of hounding the doctor’s office staff I was finally cut a check.



I had not had to see Dr. Villaroman for sometime after that incident and finally scheduled an appointment to request a referral to see a specialist. I figured that I would give the doctor a second chance. When I arrived at the doctor’s office I was informed that my insurance would not cover my visit and that I would have to pay full cost again. I informed the nurse that I was going to step outside and consult my insurance company. My insurance company informed me that I was covered and was only required to pay the co-pay. While I was on the phone with the insurance company the nurse interrupted me stating that the Dr. Villaroman changed his mind and that they would see me for the price of my co-pay.



I believe that I caught Dr. Villaroman and/or his staff committing fraud. I have noticed that a majority of his patients are geriatric and fear that he is running the same scam on them.
