Landmark Communications is a privately held media company with interests in newspapers, television broadcasting, cable programming and electronic publishing, as well as emerging interests in database marketing, career education and trade shows. The company owns Weather Channel Networks; the Travel Network; CBS network affiliates in Nashville, Tenn., and Las Vegas; and The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot newspaper. Its Landmark Community Newspapers division publishes more than 100 newspapers, shoppers, college sports publications and special interest publications throughout the United States. Landmark also owns Landmark Education Services, which has career schools in Utah, California, Nevada and Virginia. Landmark is part owner of Trader Publishing, a nationwide publisher of classified magazines; and Capital-Gazette Communications, which includes The Washingtonian Magazine.
