Alex was our salesperson. He stopped by after inspecting another roof in the neighborhood that also had hail damage. He did the inspection, and took photos of the roof to show me. He came out when the insurance adjuster came to make sure he saw all the damage.

Once the claim was filed, American General was prompt in bringing out samples and scheduling the installation. Gary came out to introduce himself and inspect the roof to make sure the job had been done to their standards.

The whole process took less than a week. My roof is beautiful and in tip-top shape. I would recommend American General without hesitation.

Don't let them into your house! They prey on old trusting citizens and make them think that something is wrong with their house and then try to get them to file insurance claim! They scammed my poor grandpa! Luckily we canceled the claim in time!!

Their contract explicitly states, "1/2 down payment and balance upon completion of work." The salesman I worked with asked for payment the day they started, so I paid them half the non-depreciation amount. The field supervisor, Gary, later told me he never asks for money up front, which is inconsistent with the contract they had me sign. But all the same, I paid like the contract stated.

Three days after the work began, the job was not complete, yet Gary asked for the rest of the payment because they had "worked their butts off for me." That obviously made me feel like he was guilt tripping me, so he could get the money faster, which made me really uncomfortable. I told them I would pay the rest of the non-depreciation amount when the items on the contract were complete. They finally agreed to finish these items the next day, and I paid them the rest the non-depreciation amount. They agreed to do finishing touches on some badly installed siding later.

Around 20 days later, they finally got back in contact with me to do the finishing touches on the siding. Did they only come back because the depreciation check finally came in from the insurance company? I don't know. But before they did the work, this time, the salesman called and demanded I pay them the depreciation amount. I refused and said I would pay when the repairs were complete. He lost it and began saying very rude and condescending things to me, including using the F word. After I refused to pay for the third time, he said, "Then we'll see you in court." He said Gary would call me.

A few minutes later, Gary called and said that the job was 97% done, but if I didn't pay within the next couple days, he would "have no choice but to put a lien on my house." Two threats of legal action, and they even admitted the job wasn't complete yet. According to the contract, they don't get the rest of the payment until the job is complete. So being pressured and threatened like this for payment that wasn't actually due them was terribly stressful and just plain wrong. I recorded the conversation, if you need proof of how they may treat you as a customer: http://bit.ly/1MVzCy8

Do not do business with this company if you don't want to be guilt tripped about how much work they did for you (the normal amount of work) and how they deserve payment before it's actually due. Any company asking for payment in a different way than what the contract states is in the wrong and should be avoided. Consumer beware.

Beware of this company. The 2nd of two reviews presents the type of business operated by Gary Henson. Could have a claim in court for failure to pay an employee.

After getting a couple of other bids I contacted American General Construction. I was contacted by Gary Henson and set up for an appointment to get a free estimate. From the very beginning Gary was very professional and made sure he answered all of my questions as well as addressing any other concerns. He gave me a written estimate, scheduled the project and delivered a perfect project. We did the roof, siding and seamless guttering. The work was definitely completed in a professional and timely manner. The work site was kept clean day to day. I was amazed how quickly and professionally our house was done. Great job ! We feel like we made a new friend. Thank you Gary !
