Marine Chemist Service is one of the leading environmental consulting services. In addition to newsletter production, the company offers many products and services. The company s services include sampling, analysis and surveys of asbestos, hazardous waste, hexavalent chromium, lead, mold, paint, soil and water. Marine Chemist Service also provides water purification systems and cartridges. Other products include blowers and portable ventilation products, non-sparking tools, ultraviolet bulbs and sterilizer systems. Marine Chemist Service has a staff of instructors to train environmental health and safety classes. Bob Walker and Sally Walker started the company in 1966. Since then, it has provided more than 25,000 maritime and land-based facility inspections and trained thousands of student-employees. Marine Chemist Service has grown from two original employees to a staff of more than 30 full-timers in two facilities in Newport News, Va., and Norfolk, Va.
