- Dr. Vapnek is Board-Certified and has practiced in New York since 1993. In all but two years since 1998, New York magazine has named Dr. Vapnek one of New York's Best Urologists. While Dr. Vapnek's practice includes all of the urological disorders found in most urology practices, his recognized areas of expertise are urinary incontinence, neuro-urology, urodynamics and female urology. The majority of his patients have problems with urinary incontinence or bladder control problems from neurological disorders such as spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis. He received his BS from Yale University, summa cum laude and his MD at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He completed his urology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, then pursued a Fellowship in Neurourology, Urodynamics and Reconstructive Urology at the University of California, Davis. In New York, Dr. Vapnek achieved the rank of Clinical Associate Professor at the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. He also served as an attending physician at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the Bronx, where he was responsible for the urological care of the spinal cord injury unit. Dr. Vapnek is a member of many professional societies and has served on many committees. He is currently a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Urological Association, the New York Section of the AUA, the American Paraplegia Society, the American Spinal Injury Association, the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology, and the New York Academy of Medicine. He is also called upon frequently as a peer reviewer for academic literature in the areas of Spinal Cord Research, Neuro-urology and Urinary Incontinence. He has published extensively in the urological literature, having authored or co-authored more than 35 papers, and having made over 50 academic presentations at local, national and international meetings.

Provided by Doctor.comDr. Vapnek is a great doctor. He's very smart. He shares what he knows. He shares his concerns. He is honest. He's got a fantastic bedside manner (often lacking these days). He's personable - he interacted with me like i was a person not just another patient. My only complaint is he had is phone on his desk and checked it when it beeped a couple of times. It wasn't overly distracting or rude...just felt he could put his phone away while there is a patient with him (or explain why he needed to keep it out). Still - one of my favorite doctors in NYC.

Dr. Vapnek immediately put me at ease, was willing to spend the time to discuss and explain my issues and made me feel that I was very fortunate to have been referred to him.

Provided by Doctor.comI found Dr. Jonathan Vapnek, and staff to be very personable, and professional. Before my Physical Dr Vapnek sat me in his private office, and was very concerned with me as a patient.
There was no rush or lack of compassion with my issue. I felt really at ease with my visit.
I highly recommend Dr Vapnek to anyone looking for top Quality care from a genuine and caring Doctor.

Provided by Doctor.comMy favorite doctor. Very knowledgeable and I wish I began my care with him earlier than I had. I have been dealing with doctors for 35 years. Staff is friendly and helpful. He's prompt and therefore doesn't throw off my scheduled transportation arrangements.
