A Friendly Car Wash

Negative star if possible! I ordered the 15.99 wash deal. Cashier said $23... which I questioned. She said sorry 'the attendant wrote it wrong', which I knew he didn't as I had looked at the receipt. Then she said $19+, I asked how $15.99 got to $19+/they up charge $2 for SUV. I did feel like she was out to charge me higher if she could get away with it. Having been there before and knowing they often miss doing the door jambs I checked them when car was finished. I asked attendant to re-wipe, he did with a dry cloth which didn't get the dirt off. He went back for a wet cloth, and was cleaning the jambs when the owner(?) came charging out and said (loudly) "you only paid for a car wash, don't you understand what a car wash is? Just a wash, no detailing! What you're asking for is detailing!" I said calmly, "What I do understand is I won't be back!" (Last time I had car detailed ~not there~ they used Q-tips not dry dirty rags!) This place had my car, one before me and one after me to wash, so not at all busy. I had just come from, Mr. Friendly Auto Glass & Spa, located at 5711 US 19, North of this business. They were so backed up with customers that I would have had to wait 30 minutes before they could even begin to wash my car. I went to "A Friendly Car Wash" (joke) because there was one car ahead of me. However, this is THE MOST ABUSIVE OWNER OF A BUSINESS I HAVE EVER PATRONIZED. ~Never Again~ Next time I'll gladly wait the 30 minutes at the other business b/c they were so courteous and so very apologetic about the wait I would have had.

I stopped in for a quick car wash at 2:30 on 12/29/14. I know you are not supposed to leave anything valuable in the car, but I left my change holder in the car. When I left the car wash, I noticed my change holder rolling around and in a different position than it ALWAYS is. I picked it up and checked, sure enough they had stolen one dollar from me. How do I know? Because my quarter holder was full, and I put 4 quarters back in it. It is not the money that bothers me but the principle behind it. I usually get my car washed there about every other week, but not any more. 13.99 x 26 car washes a year = 363.74. That's what a dollar cost. There are better and more honest places to get this service done. Find it.

I've gone to this place regularly for more than 15 years only because they are close to home. Today was my last vist; I will never go back. I caught one of their attendants using his hand to rub sand down into the carpet rather than vacuuming it, so I went straight to the owner to complain.



Instead of apologizing and offering to have it vacuumed again, he told me I didn't know what I was talking about and that I must not understand how the car wash business works. I told him to just take the car out of line-- it had not yet gone through the wash-- refund me, and I would take the car somewhere else. Initially he refused, but after I repeatedly insisted, he gave me a PARTIAL refund, saying he was owed something for his time.



STAY AWAY from this place. Seriously. Unless you like giving money to an owner who treats customers badly-- no apology, no attempt to make the customer happy. As icing on the cake, he told me I'm-- and I quote-- just old and cranky. (I'm only in my mid 40s, and ironically had been having a pretty great Saturday until that moment)

I'm not really knowledgable about cars, washing procedures, etc. But my car was really dirty and I wanted the WORKS. All the way down to shampoo and wax/buff.

I picked up my phone to call Friendly's, a man answered and I asked about rates. He was clearly agravated by my question and said with an angry tone of voice and an attitude "well it depends on what you want done, you tell me what you want, and then I can tell you how much it will cost" I apologized for bothering him and said I'd go to someone else. He hung up the phone right after I said that. So I paid someone else $140 to do the job and they were nice to me, and appreciated my business.
