Wasps
Every year is different, depending upon the weather. This year, 2021, the queens appear to be earlier than other years. I actually saw several queens coming out of hibernation in April. I often get some calls in late April/early May from people who have lethargic queens lumbering along on the floor of their house. Usually, the queens are from the Polistes family... like brown wasps and the yellow and black striped wasps called P dominula.
Hornets
Hornets make the ball-shaped paper nests. There are two kinds that nest in these types of nests; white-faced hornets and the yellow hornet. They are very protective of their nest and will attack if provoked.
Yellow Jackets
The problem with a nest in a wall void is that the yellow jackets think they are in the ground and will try to expand their nest by chewing. If they are behind sheetrock, they may break in eventually. If you hear a scratching or chewing sound, you have an emergency in the making. They will eventually break in. Contact us BEFORE this happens!
Stinging Insects
The YellowJacket Expert was birthed over 50 years ago when Norman first found a natural honeybee hive in the woods behind his house. He began to collect stinging insects for medical labs around 20 years ago. The venom extracted from the harvested insects is used to treat patients with severe sting allergies. Through his experience removing thousands of nests and colonies of insects from homes, businesses, and schools, Norman became well known in his area as an all-natural and altruistic alternative to calling a pest control company. Many people were interested in an alternative to popular pest control companies, notorious for using hazardous chemicals and leaving pest control problems unresolved. Because of our reputation for our chemical-free, pesticide-free, bee-saving, practices, we are now a full-service venom collection, nests removal, and educational service. We provide education, inspections, and removals from April through November. In the Winter months, we provide educational seminars, training, and all-natural product development. We serve customers all over Connecticut and neighboring states and have provide consultations around world.
If you see carpenter bees flying around your house or outbuilding, you should call me. While you are not in danger, they are ruining the wood on your home. Eventually, if you don't do anything, you will have to replace the trim. One other thing to keep in mind, many people have woodpeckers that rip their trim up on their house due to carpenter bees. The woodpeckers love they love the rich egg and pollen mixture.
Even minute amounts are dangerous for foetuses and babies. Yet no safety tests are done on the young — all are performed on adolescent or adult animals (usually rats).
