Although we offer seven standard interior shutter designs, seventeen standard exterior shutter designs, and ventilators of all configurations. We will meet almost any architectural specifications for custom orders.In order to ensure customers receive the best possible finish, Southern Shutter offers complete finishing options. Shutters are offered at several finishing stages to allow the customer the flexibility to choose their finishing options. Both interior and exterior shutters are offered in finishing options beginning with unfinished/raw all the way through prefinished. We will match any national paint brand for color or you may send a swatch. Either way your color pallet is endless. Paint, solid color stains, as well as semi-transparent stains are all options. Wiping stains are utilized as well on both interior and exterior shutters.Since opening the doors almost 50 years ago, our choice material for construction has been Western Red Cedar. Western Red Cedar is naturally decay resistantm light weight, straight and has one of the lowest expansion ratios of any material. In addition, our lumber sources are FSC certified ensuring sustainability. In addition to our extensive shutter line, Southern Shutter offers a complete line of louvered ventilators.         Southern Shutter utilizes the lastest modern machinery to produce custom wood shutters that will last a lifetime, with proper maintenance. Our exterior shutters are available in three lines: our top of the line DESIGNLINE, Heavy Duty, and Standard. All three of these lines are offered with either of the paneled or louvered options. Also available are Board & Batten shutters in a variety of board layouts. In addition to our extensive line of exterior shutters, Southern Shutter offers a complete line of gable ventilators. Constructed from durable Western Red Cedar, these ventilators are available in a variety of rough opening sizes and shapes, including gable styles. To complement our extensive array of exterior products, Southern Shutter manufactures a robust interior shutter selection. Our interior styles include moveable louvers, fixed louvers, and panels. The interior shutters may by ordered in pairs completely finished including hanging systems to fit any window.The selection of high quality decay resistant wood is an important element in exterior shutter construction. Since opening the doors almost 50 years ago, our preferred material for construction has been Western Red Cedar. This species of wood is naturally decay resistant, light weight, straight and has one of the lowest expansion ratios of any material. In addition, Southern Shutter offers other wood species such as Mahogany, Cypress, and Spanish Cedar. Our interior shutters are also offered in a wide array of wood species. We traditionally use Basswood for our standard interior shutters, but we also offer Red Oak, Cypress, African Mahogany, Heart Pine, and Yellow Pine.Though our production facility has been retooled to produce precision cut wood components in high volume, we have never abandoned the hands on approach to quality construction.         Overall

        I used Southern shutters for plantation shutters inside my lake house and they did a pretty good job. I had some complicated arched windows, and southern shutter were the only people who could do it. My neighbors used them too and they like them as well.

        I have used Southern Shutters products on several occasions and have been totally pleased with both their products and customer service. I have ordered and installed both their interior and exterior products. All of my customers have been so impressed with the final products they recieved. Their paint department produces an impeccable finish. Southern Shutter also has a great customer service department. I highly recommend Southern Shutter for any of your shutter needs.
