Mankind is not alone in living in organized communities. The most common of the social insects, the ant, also exhibits these behaviors. Ants do not have the power of reason. They live in blind obedience to instinct, neither choosing nor willing to do anything. Ants occur throughout the world. They make their nests in many materials, including soil, sand, wood, and leaves. There are at least 8000 species, and possibly as many as 14,000. Carpenter ants usually live in a moist, damp wood, they do not eat the wood, they gnaw at it to expand their nests.
Spiders
Spiders have two body regions connected by a restricted waist or pedicel. The fused head/thorax has two jaws and two leg-like appendages, eight legs and eight or fewer eyes. The abdomen is un-segmented and has several openings.
Termites
Termite is an insect with six legs and a body divided into three main constrictions, namely head, thorax and abdomen. On the head is situated a pair of antennae made up of many head-like segments. The thorax or chest consists of three segments, to each of which are attached a pair of legs. And in those termites that are winged, a pair of wings is attached to each of the last two segments of the thorax. The winged termites are also called "swarmer's" (male & female reproductives). They usually swarm (once each year, most often in the spring). Their mission is to get back in the ground, mate and start another colony.
Fleas
Fleas are tiny insects with bodies thin and flattened from side to side much as a fish is flattened. The flea is one of the most troublesome of insects and one of the most dangerous. This makes it easy for them to slip quickly about among the hairs of the animal upon which they live, for all fleas are parasitic.
Cockroaches
Cockroach is considered one of the most obnoxious of household pests. This brown or black insect can be found in houses, apartment and office buildings, ships, trains, and airplanes in many parts of the world. Domestic cockroaches, which are also called roaches, have a disagreeable odor. They live in warm dark areas. Their broad flat bodies permit them to crawl in narrow cracks and along pipes. They hide in the daytime coming out at night to feed. The diet of the cockroach includes both plant and animal products ranging from food, paper, clothing and books to dead insects. Although cockroaches can be difficult to eliminate there are a variety of baits and traps that are very effective. Used in combination with good sanitary practices cockroaches can be controlled or eliminated. Cockroaches are believed to be able to transmit several different human diseases.
Silverfish
Silverfish are among the most common insects in the home and are of concern because they eat paper, fabrics and get into cereals. They can also remove the sizing of paper in books and magazines. Silverfish feed on fabrics made from plain fibers such as linen, rayon and cotton, particularly starched linen or cotton. They can sometimes also feed on flour and other grain products.
Bees
Honeybee is a social insect living in large colonies. Three types of bees are in the honeybee colony: queen, workers (infertile queen) and drones (male). There is only one egg-laying queen in a hive. The bulk of the colony consists of workers. The males (drones) purpose is to mate with the virgin queens. The drones just buzz and don't sting.
Wasps
As a rule, bees and wasps are beneficial insects unmindful of the activities of man, as long as man makes it a point to disregard them. At times, however, the nests of these insects may be built in such close proximity to the home, or even in the home, as to make the area too confining for both insect and man. Many times the stings of bees and wasps are usually a painful experience for a few individuals the consequences may be much more serious, resulting in a severe reaction or even death to some people.
Beetles
First we will inspect your home for any signs of a nesting area for ants, as well as damage caused by termites, powder post beetles or any signs of a rodent or bee problem. If a nesting area has been discovered/found we will treat it accordingly. In addition, we may apply products to the baseboard areas in all the rooms as well as treating around any points of access, doors, windows etc. Additionally, we will apply products and treat the outside perimeter and apply a residual product under the shingles/siding to prevent ants or other crawling insects from entering through this area.
Hornets
Hornets and yellow jackets are members of the wasp world and pose real problems for humans. These social wasps live in colonies, which number thousands of individuals. They nest in wall voids and attics of homes where they can go unnoticed all season. They leave the nest area flying outdoors in search of food. However, in the fall when temperatures drop they fly indoors and then they become a health threat.
Yellow Jackets
Pest Protection Plus Plan #2: We will protect your home for 1 year (GUARANTEED) against any/all of the following pests:ANTS, BEES, FLEAS, HORNETS, MICE, RATS, ROACHES, SILVERFISH, WASPS and YELLOW JACKETS
The long slender toes ("fingers") on its front feet are used with great dexterity in grasping small objects and searching for food, while the large surfaces of its hind feet allow it to balance easily on its feet. The single litter per year, in the spring, varies from two to eight. The gestation period is 60 to 70 days. After about 10 weeks the newborns emerge from their nest. Raccoons are nocturnal and seldom move around in daylight.
The eggs of the female flea become scattered in places where animals sleep and in rugs and carpets. The larva, or young, are worm like and have biting mouth parts. They live in animal tissues and waste. Fleas infest rats, dogs, cats, hogs, rabbits, pigeons and poultry.
All Pest Protection Plans come with a complete and thorough pest inspection of your home. We will make note of any ongoing activity from various pests (insects, rodents, problem animals, etc.) and offer suggestions on how to minimize potential future pest problems.
Mice
Rats
The war between man and rats is unrelenting since the victories achieved are of a temporary nature, only very rarely resulting in a long-lasting reduction of rat populations. Rats attack animals, and are also responsible for damage in the home and warehouse. They gnaw upholstery, bolts of silk, papers, books, and like materials for nesting material. They gnaw hard substances. The mere presence of rats reduces the rental value of apartments and stores.
Squirrels
Squirrels, members of the rodent family, have feet well adapted to climbing and their bushy tails aid in balance. Squirrels are nuisances when they use buildings for nesting sites and food storage, or gnaw into attics to take up residence. They also may move into windows and construction gaps, and occasionally the chimney and fireplace and into the house. The typical evidence of squirrels includes droppings, gnawed holes, nest materials and food remnants. You will hear them if they're in your attic or garage.
