Our techniques never involve topping or gouging into the trees’ living cambium cells with climbing spurs, which conscientious arborists use for tree removal only.
Crown Reduction
In the not-too-distant past, tree topping was considered responsible tree care, and we have many survivors of this type of work around our community. Your topped tree’s future viability depends on many factors including species, age, vigor, and how much of the crown was removed, and how frequently.
Nearly all correct tree maintenance services can be done without the use of heavy equipment using safe climbing and rigging techniques which enable us to work in confined residential areas.
Tree Cabling and Bracing
Sometimes there are structural problems that can’t be addressed by pruning alone, because the required pruning dose would be so severe that it would undermine the tree’s other leaders. Often we can address these hazards by using hardware to add support.
Arborist Services
We are frequently called upon to give a professional opinion on how dangerous a particular tree is, or how likely it may be that it would fail and cause property damage. Where this information is critical to property value, economic decisions or legal proceedings, we apply a formal system used by arborists worldwide to evaluate and express an individual tree’s failure potential.
Land Clearing
Roses are not trees, of course, but we do seasonal rose pruning for many clients. Other related services include general yard cleanup, fruit production pruning, gutter cleaning, installing swings, pruning for satellite reception, vista pruning, and general bobcat services.
Tree Mulching
We bring several methods to improve soil structure and restore root function from the simple (raking leaves, removing turf) to the complex (root pruning, vertical mulching, deep root fertilization, soil amendments). We generally discourage chemical fertilizers and ourselves use fully organic products with slow-release properties, lest we force unwanted heavy growth, wasting your tree’s stored energy reserves, and exposing it to new problems which are harder to remedy.
