My husband selected Gateway Moving & Storage in NY to perform a house move. We live in NJ.



Their movers damaged our 3 year old fridge (at a cost of $850.) We had to point this out to their movers before they left and they admitted that they caused the dents and scratches. Told us to call their office on Monday and it would be handled by their office through their insurance.



We followed up on Monday morning with a phone call and a detailed explanation about our weekend move. And every time we called, we just got their answering machine. No one in their office would return our phone calls even though someone is supposedly there 7 days a week.



So we took our matter to small claims court. Gateway Moving & Storage never showed up. We received a judgement in our favor. And never got paid.

SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND POTENTIAL DAMAGES. GO ELSEWHERE.

I am extremely dissappointed with the service Lew provided. He is very dishonest and sly! He was paid $400 cash deposit and an agreed amount to move our household goods to the warehouse for shipping. When he got to the warehouse to unload he charged an extra $500 and he wanted the total fee in cash! We wanted to pay by cheque to have a paper trail as agreed but he refused to unload and was very rude to the guys at the warehouse and those helping to load at the house. If he wanted to charge more he should have said that at the house and not at the warehouse before unloading. He is a very GREEDY and DISHONEST man. For his age, his behaviour is shocking! We are extremely dissappointed with this service and wished we went with the other moving company upon reflection. I would not reccommend a squirrel to use his service. Absolutely unprofessional and Attrocious!! I will NOT reccomend this company to ANYONE! We were fleeced! Ruth, NY

Horrible storage units, which are actually a pair of large garages where your things will rot alongside others, probably stacked on top of it. Any kind of insects, or pest, will quickly invade everything in the garage. Birds fly around inside the garage and will most likely defecate on your belongings. The floors are cracked, the windows are broken,a child could get the door open. Your stuff will be sharing the space with years of piled up garbage including gas cans, oil containers, engines, broken light bulbs, 30 year old packing paper with mouse feces on it.



If you get things moved by them the work will be done almost exclusively by labor ready workers who do not care about damaging your things. If anything of yours is broken the owner will claim he knows nothing about it. He doesn't give out his real name or anything so if you move across country or something you will have a difficult time finding out who to sue or put the claim on. His operation is illegal, he is not properly insured, he is a rude, greedy, crook. DON'T CALL GATEWAY MOVERS.

I work at a Moving company in Anchorage, Alaska and called on the crew of Gateway Moving and Storage to off-load a shippment that I sent to Herkimer for a client. Lew and his crew did an AWESOME job. They were hardworking and very helpful!! They were even able to help us out last minute!! Your can't go wrong with The Guys at Gateway!!
