Overall

I am writing this review a month from everything because it has taken me this long to calm down. These doctors will KILL your dog. They solely responsible for killing my dog. I was referred there by my vet to have an MRI on my dog. When we arrived there with a 187lb dog that could not walk which they were aware of and came out with an small cart. I should of known what I was in for then. Too try to make this short. They had the ER dr evaluate my dog and then do a CXR without my consent and multple test without my consent and then after hrs of sitting in the waiting room (which we were supposed to be there for an MRI) we got put into a room where the ER dr came in to tell me that he needed to stay in ICU to be evaluated by the internal medicine dr and maybe the neurologists. My bill so far was over $600 by now. The next day we went to visit our dog and he was laying on the floor on a blanket with urine all over him. Our dog had to stay there for three days at $600 a day to get IV fluids because the internal medicine dr wasnt feeling well, they didnt feel he needed an MRI and the decided to do all these test on him that would take days to come back; After those three days and $4500 later, we were able to take our dog home, not doing any better than he was when we brought him in. He was diagnosed with IMPA and was put on steroids and an autoimmune suppresant. After 7 days like they said, my dog lost 35lbs and was not walking or bearing weight. We then called down there to talk to that dr and she was unavailable just like every other day (by the way when we did briefly talk to her, all she talked about was how much everything was going to be and we had to sign adjustment after adjustment). She wanted us to bring him down there which was over 45 min away again so he can be looked at, BUT she wouldnt do it, the ER dr would and consult with her the next day and then they would let us know what to do. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG/PET THERE! I got so fed up that I took him to another specialist in Estero and he was misdiagnosed and we were doing exactly the opposite than what we needed to do and by then our up to three weeks ago absolutely beautiful, healthy dog that was our child, was too far gone to be saved. So thankyou to ASH and the very over paid useless "specialists" they employ there for killing my baby!!!!!!

It is with great sorrow that I am responding to such a sensitive matter, given that you have lost your beloved pet, Seamus. Please accept our condolences to that regard. It was very upsetting to hear that update. Reading your comments, it is evident that you are still reeling from this loss. To respond, the single most important thing at Animal Specialty Hospital of Florida is patient care and your pet, Seamus, was no exception. With respect to your privacy, I would prefer to handle this in person, as I feel that you still have many questions regarding Seamus’ medical treatment. I would like the opportunity to have a specialist speak with you again to reiterate the reason for Seamus’ treatment plan and why the diagnosis was appropriate. It is imperative to me that you have a good understanding of what happened to Seamus up to where he left our care, at which point he was doing well and per your comments (documented in his medical records) continued to do well and improve in the days following. I cannot speak to reasons why Seamus passed as he was no longer in our care at that point; however, I would like to answer all of your concerns and address any comments you have made. As with any medicine, human or veterinary, there is no guarantee that treatment will resolve illness in every case. Again, we extend our deepest sympathy for your loss, but also we would like to answer all of your questions so that you’ll have the closure that you need to move forward from this. Please contact our office so that we can arrange a time to meet. Thank you for your candid thoughts on your experience, I look forward to helping you find resolution and closure to this matter. Warm Regards, Judy Mayeski Administrative Manager Note: In an effort to provide an exceptional experience to all of our clients and compassionate patient care, ASH is happy to accommodate any reasonable requests. While the circumstances are unfortunate in this instance, ASH acted appropriately according to the ethical requirements of the American Veterinary Medical Association, as well as within the confines of the laws designated by the Florida Department of Professional Regulations. The best possible care and appropriate services were rendered with signed authorization of an itemized estimate that was presented before any treatments were initiated.

Great!

How do you thank someone for saving your dogs life? Dr Michelle Carnes and staff went beyond their abilities to save and cure my dog. Just a simple mutt that I adopted 4 years ago , not cute or adorable, but she had a charm that made me know she was right for my family. march 7th she came down with a severe head tilt. The vet sent us to Dr Carnes. it was was a brain tumor. Dr Carnes and staff operated and took extreme care. 3 weeks later she came home and has only improved every day. I only have the utmost THANKS and RESPECT for DR CARNES, STAFF AND ERIC at ASH.!!!!!!!!!!!

Would not recommend this place...

Would not recommend this place. Took sick dog at night, rang bell several times, there were many cars in staff lot, but there was no answer. Save your dog and your money go else where. I went to the Emergency animal hospital on Dudley drive (Off Pine Ridge Rd) and they were very good.
