Moving Help - Special T Movers

In response to the unfavorable review I posted yesterday about this company leaving us in the middle of our move, the owner, Isaac called me screamed at me, cursed me out and hung up on me. I cannot believe this person is still in business. You should not be able to quit a job in the MIDDLE of the MOVE and then respond this way when a customer posts an unfavorable review. Uhaul should not be affiliated with this company.

Issac, the person who coordinated our move from Special T Movers, was very professional on the phone and responsive to our requests. Our apartment was in a condo building that has a very strict elevator policy, and Issac was understanding about how important it would be for the movers to be on time since we only had a two hour window to use the elevator. Unfortunately the movers hit a lot of traffic on the way there, so the first person was 45 minutes late and the second person was an hour late. Luckily my husband and I are in our late twenties, so we were able to hustle and move all of our boxes and some of the furniture ourselves before they arrived. The movers were nice and apologized for being so late. They said that the reason the second person was even later was because they were trying to find free parking (we live in downtown Chicago, so there isn’t any free parking). They didn’t have a credit card on them, so they asked if I would go pay for the parking meter, and I did. It was a little stressful having to worry about the movers being so late and about paying parking meters when we were trying to get all of our things moved out of the apartment in such a tight window. However, we finished just in time, and Special T Movers was reasonable in giving us a partial refund since they were so late. Of the two movers, I believe one was the owner’s son - he could have had a bit more experience in moving (we watched him accidentally put a large scrape on our oak kitchen table when he was going through a door, but I suppose it was our fault for not padding it carefully). The other mover did a good job maneuvering our large couch out, and seemed knowledgeable about how to load our UHaul - it looked to us like he did a nice job fitting everything in. He only tied one thing down, but he said it would be fine, so we were able to return a lot of the unused rope to UHaul. Unfortunately, when we arrived in California, a lot of the boxes had shifted and fallen, and some of our things even fell out of the UHaul when we opened the door – the movers on the other end were very surprised that everything hadn’t been tied down. I was hesitant to write a review at all, since Issac was so nice and apologetic on the phone, but I know some people really rely on this information (I know we did), so I wanted to write a fair review for others to reference.
