Our apt. complex had to have extensive construction work done because the builders did a shoddy job.
Unfortunately, the construction that was used hired labor from South of the border. They deliberately destroyed a lot of our landscaping. Cutting down bushes, throwing bricks on bushes,etc.
Our building was the first to suffer damage. I told the property manager, but she did nothing. Lona Vest told us this damage was normal!
No it's not.
Now, the property management is making us pay for all the landscaping with our regime fees! The construction company should have had to pay for it.
When I asked Lona Vest at our yearly meeting in December 2014 how much the construction company would be paying toward the landscaping, her response was, "I can't remember." I then asked her for a ballpark estimate. She wouldn't give me an answer.
I have recently learned that they used our regime fees to pay a landscape architect around TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS to redo the property.
Outrageous. All we needed to do was replant the same type of bushes that were there.
They are now planting scraggly plants that are already dying. They were just planted a week ago from November 21, 2015.
We went three years with no landscaping in the areas the construction workers destroyed the bushes.
There was no ground cover and serious erosion occurred behind some of the buildings. The foundations were exposed! Which meant dirt had to be brought in, paid with our regime fees.
I asked the property manager why she let it go so long and she just shrugged her shoulders.
She didn't even know about the damage until I brought it to her attention.
She was totally unhelpful during the construction. For four months my apt. was damaged with nails that flew out of the walls and split dry wall.
All this was brought to Lona's attention, but she did nothing about the property manager.
None of the landscaping should have been damaged and should have been stopped in the beginning.
Ever since they started managing the HOA in my neighborhood, regime fees have been increased, and money is being spent on useless and unnecessary expenses.
