The truth is, it is set in place to protect our young athletes and keep them safe in the playing arena. It is important that you choose a primary care provider that you trust to give a thorough examination.
Family Practice
Approximately 90 percent of all sports injuries are nonsurgical in nature. At MBJ, Dr. Rob Amrine offers primary care for athletes. Following his family medicine residency, he completed a sports medicine fellowship, qualifying him to diagnose and treat any type of nonsurgical sports injury, such as ankle sprains, joint injuries, dislocations, minor fractures, overuse injuries, osteoarthritis, and concussions.

During your pre-registration appointment, you may require lab work, X-rays, and an EKG. The hospital will then send the results to your surgeon's office prior to surgery.
Immunizations
Dr. Rob Amrine is a primary care sports medicine provider and offers sports physical evaluations at Missoula Bone & Joint to supplement annual preventive care exams done by your primary care physician. He spends time with the athlete, completing a physical evaluation, but he also educates them on the social challenges of being an athlete. Please keep in mind that the sports physical offered by Dr. Amrine should not replace your ‘well child’ visit that assesses other health conditions not related to sports, vaccinations etc.

Minimally Invasive Surgery
Once the SI joint is confirmed as the cause of your symptoms, treatment can begin. Some patients respond to physical therapy, use of oral medications, or joint injection therapy. If nonsurgical treatments and joint injections do not provide long term pain relief then you and your surgeon may consider other options, including minimally invasive surgery.
