Our last two visits over the past 3 weeks have been disappointing. We have to put Pacific Rim in the “time out” corner for a bit. On our last visit, our salad was wilted and brown. Today, the salad was fresh but my chicken teriyaki (the lunch combo) was cold and very dry. So cold that the garnish had congealed. The waiter was quick to replace it. My lunch combo plate was not complete in that the wasabi was missing and we had to request chopsticks. We ran out of tea (at $2.50 per person!) and it was never refilled. The check was delivered promptly but the math for the suggested gratuity was incorrect - suggesting that a 15% tip on a $30 ticket would be $15 . . . I don’t think so! Additionally, the dishes didn’t feel clean - they didn’t feel smooth. There was a chip in the rim of my tea cup and a broken corner on the bento box insert. As a former restaurant manager, I know what a clean dish feels like and when a dish is broken or cracked, it should be retired. The replacement for my chicken teriyaki was eventually delivered and it was hot but still very dry and flavorless. We need to give this place a rest for a bit. It will be a while before we try this place again.
The review above was from April 2018. The following is from a visit on 12/4/18
We are DONE with this place. My husband was dining alone on 12/4/18. About 2 in the afternoon. He ordered tea, salad and 2 sushi rolls. Simple enough. All items were served promptly except for the California roll. He paid with a gift card and started to eat. The rice ball was so small for the one sushi roll that he started to choke on the rice so he went to the men’s room to cough up the rice. Returning to his table, he discovered that his food had been tossed (he still had not received the California roll). The server apologized saying we thought you left - but did not offer to replace his meal. After 20 minutes, he was still waiting for the California roll - when he asked the server - the reply from the kitchen was: I have all of these carry out orders now - the California roll customer will have to wait. The kitchen did not have all those other orders when the original order was placed! DONE with this place. We used to love this place when we first moved here over 2 years ago. I understand that Pacific Rim has changed hands in the past year or so. The current management doesn’t know to treat customers properly. Repeat customers are key to a stable business and Pacific Rim has lost this repeat customer.
