Dr. Robert M Barbati, MD

I was seen in the ER 2 wks ago, and diagnosed with a few external issues in my bottom area, that were causing moderate to severe pain. I was given instructions for home care along with a few prescriptions. I have noticed a slight improvement in my situation, however I was told to follow up with Dr. Barbati. My appt was scheduled for 2:30pm, for a follow up exam. The staff told me it would be about a 20 min wait. Finally at 4:25 I was brought into the exam room, not a problem because I was desperate for an opinion on my progress. Well when I met with the Doctor, he wasn't listening to anything I was saying. Going against the Doctors orders from the ER he begins to tell me he wants to do a digital exam (physical) I explained to him I am in, and have been in severe pain for the last 3 wks. And he was like "Ok your refusing care". I told the Doctor I was not refusing care and that I was willing to do the physical exam if he would first check the area to see if the area has healed. He then said there is no need for him to check the area he wanted to do the physical exam. I told him what the previous doctors said about not doing physical examinations, because it could cause further trauma to the area, and possibly lead to surgery. He just said at that point he was not going to continue the conversation, as he "never does this with his patients." I felt like saying you mean its habit for you to ignore your patients pain, and ignore previous diagnosis, and previous doctors orders?? The appt was supposed to be a follow up visual exam of the injuries and he insisted on an internal exam, even though my problems were exterior. Needless to say I left, with no idea if the area is healing or getting worse because of this "Doctors" refusal to do what I was there to have done. This man does not belong in the medical field. It is possible at one time he may have been a good Doctor, or maybe I just caught him on a bad day, but I do not deserve to suffer because of his arrogant attitude. I would not recommend this Doctor to anyone. And to be honest it frightens me that he "does rounds" at the Viera Hospital.
